I just checked mboc and you're definitely right, rna pol does it all. Unwinds a bit at a time (all that's inside the complex) and synthesises mRNA based off that. The the Hbonds resume after the complex passes through

The top 10 things I always used to get mixed-up/forgot/confused on:
1. hominoid/hominid/hominin
2. triplet/codon/anti-codon
3. There are no such things as dominant or recessive alleles, only dominant/recessive traits
4. DNA helicase is not in transcription, only in DNA replication
5. DNA is read 3' to 5', constructed 5' to 3'
6. Forgetting prosimians as the first primates
7. New World monkeys are older than Old World monkeys
8. Cultural differences between homo sapiens and homo neinderthals (sapiens used symbols... in case u didnt know)
9. Overall, mtDNA mutates slower than chromosomal DNA, but the HYPERVARIABLE D-LOOP mutates very fast
10. Law of independent assortment and Law of segregation are two separate things.

WTF IS THE LAW OF SEGREGATION?

Where the two alleles of a gene in a cell (on homologous chromosomes) are separated in meiosis into separate gametes, so that an individual can only pass one of the alleles onto a single offspring.
