Subject Selection ; Medicine

I have posted on this subforum before, but with subject selection creeping closer I am getting a bit worried  :-\

Notes: I want to do medicine. I like science, math and consider myself reasonably decent at those subjects. I am doing methods 1/2 in this year and will do 3/4 next year.

Here are three possible lines of subjects I have been considering:

Methods
Normal English (what is the word for this?)
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Specialist

Reason: I like these subjects. Many have said that it is really hard and that I will not cope with it. Not sure, need to speak with teachers.

Methods
Normal English
Biology
Chemistry
HHD
Specialist

Reason: HHD would take some of the strain off the other subjects. Not sure I like HDD though, and it scales down.

?? ??

Reason: I am curious for other subject selections! I do want to do 6 subjects, and specialist and methods are a must.

Any help in making my decision would be greatly appreciated.

Specialist is a lot of work from my experience, but you also shouldn't be just choosing subjects based if they scale up or down. :)

You could replace HHD with Psychology since it only scales down 1 I think and it is very relevant to medicine and health. Check out the study design and maybe ask some of the Psych teachers at your school.

I'd just like to point out that the subjects you have chosen originally are very doable - I know many people who do a very similar set of subjects. If you are willing to put in the effort to do well, then you can definitely score highly. Don't substitute in HHD for the sake of doing an 'easier' subject - it will still require you to put in the time to do well, and you are more likely to do well in the subjects you enjoy. Good luck with subject selections!

If you find maths easy then physics will be a walk in the park as long as you spend a tiny bit of time on answering explanation questions relevantly and concisely. The exam is remarkably consistent from year to year - never any surprises.

No need to be concerned about the "3 science, 1 must be bottom 2" rule - if you pop off in both methods and specialist, no matter if you do 2 or 3 science subjects, at least 1 science will have to be in the bottom 2. I say, if you're better with numbers, do physics instead.
