Poll

I just got an average atar, so there are a few questions for apply couses. My friend told me that she knew someone went to a ~85atar couse with 55atar. He might be lucky that the course still have a few spaces for him to study, so

Are there any way to know if a course still have spaces for me to apply?
Can you tell me what are you studying if you know your friends or classmates enter your course with a much lower atar?
I did apply for UAC disadvantages points, is that really help? Is that available for most uni?
Should I try to apply for a subject with atar cut off 5-7 higher than my own atar?
Does the order of courses i pick matters?

1. No; that just depends on the candidature at the present time, which is not disclosed
2. This does happen a lot and I do remember some people getting in with at least 5 or 10 below, but I forgot who so just refer to the case above
3. Yes; bonus points are one of the many things that contribute to #2. They lower the ATAR cut-offs for you to get in
4. Sure, why not? Assuming you want to
5. Yes; whatever comes at the top is your first preference, and if you get into it then you'll be offered a position for that one, and all the rest just get ignored. So rank your preferences in terms of which you would prefer to get into over the other.

Hi!
There are a few courses I want to do at Usyd but they have this system called "fixed atar". If my atar is 0.3 below this "fixed atar" (which is like their minimum) would I still be able to get into it?
Thank you
