Ive always wondered tho what happens if people select to have their results private? Do the results get published somewhere but the person remains anonymous?

If you look here http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/high40plus/2016/Studies40plus2016.pdf it says how many people chose to not publish their results for a given study score (in each subject).

Always gotta laugh at people with zero prior posts/interaction that come on here just to post their results.

There was very little of that this year compared to previous years  :P

How did you go??

hi, im in year 11 this year and I completed biology as my 3/4. I received a study score of 36 which will scale to 37. I was happy when I received it but now I'm not sure how I feel about it :/ looking at the herald sun is making me feel shit because I can see the names of people from my school and ugh. plus, my friend keeps telling me who got 40+ when I dont really care to know right now. Idk. I know I could've done better because I completed 40+ practice papers so I feel disheartened. can someone please make me feel better because I feel so overwhelmed right now

OMG motivated99, I feel the exact same way! I'm in year 11 & got raw 37 for biology, and guess what I was aiming for at the start of the year? Raw 44!
And then the herald sun comes out - my friend who did THREE 3/4 subjects in year 11 this year, gets 40+ in all her subjects, and DUX of two of them!! And I was feeling good about my score until then. I guess all we can do is move forward and work really hard to do well next year!
Just know that you're not the only one who's feeling this way!
Side note - I probably should NOT have read the herald sun, it's not doing much to help me :/

Your year 11 mark for a 3/4 isn't the be all and end all. Sometimes the subject is one that you're not as strong in, or you underestimated the competitiveness. The bell curve doesn't help either, with only 8-9% getting 40+, making marks seem less impressive than they are. Also, sometimes it's good to not do too well in year 11- doing too well can make you underestimate the work you need to put in the next year and overall not do as well.
In year 11 I got 37 in Biology, I was hoping for a 40+ as were my parents, but I used it to give me motivation to work harder and not underestimate the difficulty of vce, and got 97.9 this year, with 42 in methods, chemistry and physics, and 38 in spesh (raw for all, and had a tough lit exam)
Just use it to work harder!  :)
Tldr: be proud of your score and use it as motivation :P

Wow! Thank you so much for this! This has given me heaps of motivation!
Also, well done! That ATAR is amazing!

No worries  ;)
Also keep in mind you often only hear the good results. Keep your marks in perspective and be proud of your results! Hearing about all the 99+ ATARs and the 40+ study scores may be demoralising but keep in mind 99% of people don't get an ATAR over 99 and 91% get below 40 SS. And 37 in biology is still top 17.7% of everyone doing that subject ;)
And ATARs / scores are important, but so are other things, and if you don't get the ATAR to get into your dream course there's often another pathway eg transferring into it
Work hard and good luck! :) :)
