Getting SACs back after finishing 3/4

I was wondering whether it was unusual for schools to not give back sacs after you've finished the subject -- especially for maths and science subjects. I'm not sure if my school does give back SACs, but would it be right for them to withhold it? Is it a school-policy thing? Or do they only give them back with a set of conditions? Because I've heard of students getting back their sacs and using them for tutoring etc. I'm just curious, not too sure how this works, because I get that teachers re-use SAC questions etc.

I think some schools like to keep them until results day as VCAA can audit them at any time, require them to prove sac marks. It's a tad overkill though
Why listen to my advice for free when you can pay for it: Methods/Specialist/Chemistry/Physics tutoring

Hi peterpiper :)

My school kept my methods sacs this year and just last week I finally asked why that was. What my spesh teacher told me was that they kept them because they like to reuse ideas for the application tasks. For example, this year a teacher made of the idea of Victoria Jones (supposedly Tasmania Jones' sister and then she became a niece or something, we were laughing at the incest there) trying to reach a temple that had a light turning in the centre. We ultimately had to track the movement of the light across the rectangular walls surrounding it and try to get Victoria to the centre.

It must have taken quite some time to think this and all the other parts up so I can understand the teachers wanting to be able to reuse the ideas. My teacher said that it is not uncommon for students to have a sibling a few years behind them that they give their past sacs to and thus it would give the sibling an unfair advantage to already understand the scenario going into the sac. So that is why we only get them back during class time and why we aren't allowed to take photos. It could be for different reasons at other schools though :)

I think some teachers may allow you to take a photocopy of your sac. I was able to do this with all my english sacs. For Methods my teacher gave us blank copies of the sacs so it really depends on the teacher. :)

I remember my bio teacher saying that she "had" to keep them for numerous years until she could chuck them out - and she didn't allow us to photocopy - only to take notes from it. Although this may be due to her reusing many questions for later years. (some of which were VCAA questions  ::))

I think it depends on your school and subject teachers. Most subjects at my school keep the sacs as they reuse questions for next years sacs and so they prevent students from selling and sharing them to other students whilst some other subjects allow us to take the sac home because they produce new ones each year
