Title: Studying Aeronautical engineering
Post by: envisagator on June 30, 2018, 01:16:54 pm
Personally I have a bigger interest and desire to do aeronautical engineering over mechanical engineering, however, should I be considerate of the scope of the profession, as it is a very specialised area of engineering, or should i just go for mechanical engineering??. Plus, is UNSW better than USYD for aeronautical/ mechanical engineering?

At the very least it's probably something to keep in mind. Because it is indeed a bit specialised and what you do after it can vary somewhat to that of mechanical. But it shouldn't outweigh everything really. For starters you probably can't do everything an aeronautical engineer does with a mechanical engineering degree, just to remind you that there are still advantages. You really should be picking the degree based off what you want to do to begin with anyway, so if that's aeronautical then just go with it. (Plus you can always transfer out if you regret your decision later on. That's literally what I did with actuarial.)

In your eyes, what makes a university "better" for a certain discipline?
