Hahaha! Maybe I read it and then I typed it because it was on my mind? I literally am not sure hahaha. That's funny. Bated breath.

Thank you so much! This was super helpful, and whilst I'm not preparing for my HSC it is super relevant to half yearlies!

Thanks again,

Mary x
Hey!
I did the HSC last year (2017) and my 10 units were English Advanced, English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Legal Studies, Maths and Studies of Religion 2. I achieved my ATAR aim of over 90!

I loved tutoring and running essay writing workshops (privately and at InFlow Education) so much that I decided to study a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in English and minoring in Maths!

If you're thinking about tutoring, let me know x

Do you guys recommend completing a past paper the morning of the exam? I feel like it's great for revision but could also be super stressful if you didn't know an answer...

Personally, I would just run through an exam and check whether I can answer every question. I might dot point answers, but the important thing isn't answering question you find easy, it's finding gaps in your knowledge and quickly fixing them. Personally, I didn't do past papers on the day, but if it makes you feel less stressed/more confident, by all means go ahead!

Wow just visited the study timetable link - made my own holidays study timetable and it's actually working out really well for me. I'd never really tried using a study timetable before but I'm finding this really effective :)

During holidays and the period before the HSC, how many hours of study would you suggest per day?

Hey hey! It is different for everyone, and of course, quality over quantity!

That said, in the month before the HSC, I probably did about 8 hours a day during the week, maybe 5 hours a day on weekends? I really crammed in the last month ;D

This is very much a 'how long is a piece of string' type question. Really, it will just depend on who you are as a person, how much work you have to do, and how efficiently you study. Like Jamon, I probably studied around 8 hours a day (on a good day). However, friends of mine studied 12+ hours a day (nutcases, would not recommend), whilst others studied very little (like, 3 hours a day, maybe). Many of these people got a great mark, so there isn't any sort of 'determinate' rule when it comes to study hours. Just do as much as you can, and as much as you feel is productive!
