Chrome extensions that will change your life
ALSO!!! I just discovered the beauty of Chrome extensions. I want to share them with you guys because THEY'RE SO REVOLUTIONARY.
- OneTab: it will collect all of your tabs into one page. It removes clutter and saves you from opening and closing tabs. This is great if you always have 100s of tabs open, or if you're doing a lot of research. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
EDIT: just realised that this is basically the tab feature that exists on Microsoft Edge lol
- Email Tracking for Gmail: when I found out this existed, I was absolutely baffled. It lowkey sounds like it's infringing on people's privacy, but I guess not since it still exists! It allows for you to see when someone has opened your email - some of my teachers are notorious for not responding to emails, so if you can see if they've chosen to open it and not respond, you can send a follow up email.
- Google Dictionary: highlight any word on a page, press the icon and it'll define it!
- Google Translate: same kinda deal, except it'll translate it for you!
- Weava Highlighter: enables you to highlight text on any page! You can also add notes to the text you highlighted, and it automatically saves so you don't need to worry about it disappearing if you close the page!
- Cite This For Me: even though this is a website, this extension makes it so much more easier. Log in with your account, click the icon on the page you want to reference, boom. You can choose to copy it or add it to your account's bibliography.
- Todoist: a to do list on your Chrome browser! I know there's TONS of other ways you could store your to do lists (phone, book, sticky notes etc.). I like to use it for very short term tasks, instead of having to open Sticky Notes on my laptop because I use Chrome for everything.
HONOURABLE MENTIONS:
- Grammarly: if you haven't already downloaded it, download it now.
- Dark Reader: changes every page to dark mode! It helps when you're working at night and don't want to strain your eyes.
- Screen Shader: also allows you to change the colour of your page, so you don't strain your eyes.
- Volume Master: this isn't really productivity-related, but it boosts your volume by up to 600% (I KNOW).
- Any type of ad blocker: it's 2020, what are you doing if you don't have this?
- Any site blocker: if you really want to focus, block all of your Netflix, Instagram, Youtube, etc. I like using Block Site, since it has a Work Mode: you can set a time period for when these websites can be blocked.
- Any type of screen capture or record: I only use this to capture, I don't really use the video features. You can annotate and record your own voice or face on it too!!! (Great for tutorials and the like.)
- Momentum: not really productivity-related, but quite lovely and inspiring. Every day, a beautiful picture of scenery will show as the background, along with an inspiring and motivational quote on a new tab!
