Hi all,

The 4 subtopics listed under consumer laws in marketing (influences) are as follows: Deceptive and misleading advertising, price discrimination, Implied conditions and warranties. Just wondering whether all the actions within these subtopics were illegal?

Hey Rikahs!

The 4 subtopics under consumer laws are all illegal practices under the Australian Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Clth)
This is just a generic overview of some of the illegal practices of: deceptive and misleading advertising, price discrimination, implied conditions and warranties.
If a business breaches consumer law through unconscionable conduct, they can be prosecuted against by the ACC who can issue a penalty of up to $1.1 million for companies and $220,000 for individuals.
Also, on the spot fines can be made to manufacturers making false claims about their products ($6600 for companies and $1320 for individuals)

Hope this helps :D
