Good evening everyone  ;D

I've been going to VCESS and one of my classes is BusMan 3&4. Got a handout from the Cambridge textbook and realised how much better it is compared to the newest edition of the Jacaranda textbook  :o Layout's more intuitive, actually uses colourcoding, better examples / definitions, it just seems so much better.

I was just wondering if the Cambridge textbook is actually worth getting. I have a PDF of it but I'll definitely prefer a physical copy ^^;
Does it just look better or is Cambridge just more comprehensive?

Thank you!!

Hey there!

My school used the Jacaranda textbook (2017) and whilst I found that the concepts were perfectly explained in unit 3, the textbook lacked depth in its unit 4 chapters. This is where the Cambridge textbook was really advantageous, as it covered unit 4 with a lot more case studies and IMO, did so with greater clarity. As you've mentioned, the Jacaranda textbook has been updated since then, however. I think that if you have the funds available and are willing, there's no harm in using both resources to compile your notes from (this is what I did), however, it is not a necessity. Best of luck :)

The Cambridge textbook is also great for potential case studies. Overall I didn't have many problems with this book, but occasionally it tends to waffle on for a bit with irrelevant information, especially in the later chapters so just be weary of that.

Thanks everyone! Set to pick the Cambridge textbook up tomorrow  :D

Bit worried now though, picked up the A+ BusMan Exam book (edition 6e, 2016) today when the seller said it was up-to-date, but I'm not completely sure it's relevant. Any advice? Might be able to return it. Was only $15 used so it's not too bad

2017 was the first year of the current study design, so considering that the A+ Busman Exam book you have is from 2016, I presume it is out of date. Whilst some elements of the previous study design (pre 2017) have been carried forward into the current study design, new dot-points exclusively on the 2017 syllabus will not be included.

Not sure if im too late here but oh well. From my understanding, Cambridge has better case studies, but they are both pretty similar in content. However, the main Jacaranda author is the chief examiner for business from the past 4 years, so its not like its useless compared to Cambridge. Like all subjects, if you can, I'd recommend using both to get a broad overview of everything in the course (remember, most people/schools use one or the other, so using both will expose you to what everyone is learning). Hope that helped.
