Working memory QUESTION (Y)

Just to clarify..
do the phonological loop and the visuo-spatial sketchpad have their own certain level of capacity or duration (e.g. 5-9 bits of info, around 20 seconds)?
or can the info (that is held in them) stay there for as long as the info is being manipulated by the central executive?

ACCORDING TO NELSON (therefore, not Grivas), phonological loop and visuo-spatial sketchpad have durations of up to 2 seconds, while the central executive has a duration of standard STM (up to 20 seconds).

Yep
and according to grivas
they all have duration of 18-20 seconds.

Grivas > Nelson. But who knows. Grivas could have had an off day. Either way I'd side with Grivas.

Gotcha :)

hahaha hey I only have it cos my sister did psych at another school which was smart enough to use it. Mine on the other hand uses heinemann. It's such a pain having to go over the course twice (once in class with heinemann then at home with grivas) due to a crap textbook. Whenever I read through heinemann (never by choice) I always think "this is torture... NEEDDDD the grivas book".

then again, my teacher urges us to use a custom textbook that she created herself, and it's very good :P

Ugh, such a pain. My psych teacher has pretty much photocopied the entire Grivas book for us. We only use Nelson because old our psych teacher helped write it.

I just realised that my teacher actually photocopies sections from the grivas too...
it obviously must be recognised as the best..
