Go to a library. I get zero study done at home - why study when you can sleep? At least when you sleep at uni you feel bad about it.

^ too true

By the way, does anyone know if Science allows students to take extra summer subjects that would put them over the 300 credit point mark?

No, you are only allowed to do a maximum of 300 points (unless you have a good reason which includes a change of study area or poor course advising) it has nothing to do with overloading, that's how much the commonwealth place entitles you to.

Approximately 4 weeks before exams.

I don't know if they will let you, but try asking to do a Community Access Program, which lets you study subjects, both accessed and non-assessed, outside your degree.

If they let you, only downside is that you will have to pay full fee for it since it is not under HECs.

Are exam schedule staggered, as in, a specific faculty gets priority of first week, or first year subjects get priority? Because of lot of 1st year mates (such as Commerce), finished in the first four days.

I think the general idea is to have the bigger subjects first, so there is more time to mark them.

Currently in Year 12, hopefully doing Biomed/ Sci at melb uni next year and just wondering what the typical structure is. I know there are exams but in class do you do things like tests what the homework load like, etc.

Thanks

Depends on the subject, but most science/biomed subjects have a heavy exam weighting (~75%) and then the next big thing is prac work, if the subject has it (often ~20-25%). The rest usually consists of weekly assignments or mid-semester tests.

That, and also enrolment numbers as well.  You'll also find some subjects with small enrolments will have exams quite early as well.    If they can fit the whole cohort somewhere on a particular day after the big enrolments, they'll slot the small enrolments in as well.

Does "re-enrolling" for next year need to be done through a course advisor or just through the portal? :/ I'm a bit confused because there seems to be a real push for Arts students to book a course advice appointment to discuss course plans for next year and to avoid "enrolment penalties" (what?!?! :S) - still a bit of a noob here haha :/

Monday 8 October

http://studentcentre.unimelb.edu.au/eastern/subject_information/assessment_and_results
If you go to portal now, and under the assessments tab in the admin tab you can look at your timetable. However, some subjects may not be up there yet. Also you don't get your seat number yet. I have my dates for all 4 of my subjects.
