I have a question: presuming the med entry applications work like VTAC offers and you only get one - does this mean that if you put UoM first and get an FFP but don't want to take it, you have no other offers and won't be considered for other preferences?  I know it will be a long time until I apply, haha, but I'm just wondering.

Or if you know you don't want an FFP, you can elect not to be offered one and only be considered for CSP and BMP?

You can choose to not be considered for a FFP, in which case you would get passed on to another university.  Unfortunately there is no way to say you'd prefer a CSP at Deakin to a BMP at Melbourne for example.

Well that kind of sucks!  But I guess it's better than nothing.  Thanks for clearing that up :)

They've flagged that as a potential change for future years though

I would think if you didn't get Monash there's still a chance you'll get UoM?

If you don't want to do research, you could apply for one of the other professional entry Masters programs? Or something broader like public health?
Apparently MD offers are out and have not got any emails... I guess it's all over for me :( I'll probably consider other courses
2007-2008 VCE ATAR 90.15
2009-2011 BSc (Unimelb)
2012-2015 DDS (Unimelb)

PagingDr is making quite good reading at the moment. Looks like the cutoffs for MD have risen a lot...
Indeed,

Sorry for those deprived of an offer :(

Yeah it's really shocking to see the increases across the board with the new system. I hope you find a path for next year, if you want to reapply for 2013

I am almost certain there's more to that story (ie a missing prereq) because there are multiple people with worse scores who got offers.

He also thinks his GPA might have been closer to 5.7 or something, due to transfers and such.

That would explain it. I haven't been following PD that closely.

Oh wow, over half of all applicants didn't get an interview. That's surprisingly high

I don't think more than usual applied this year, but we've never had the statistics before

Well the number of places is constant (although more has been allocated to FFP for obvious reasons, still this would be negligible) so thats really the only conclusion we can make, unless UoM is taking reducing the number of interview offers, I dont think it has changed from the usual 1.25, but Im not certain,

Anybody received the 'snail mail' (Gemsas letter) yet?
