-
I wish i was kwonger now. :P
Oh well, still <3 you unimelb ;)
-
I might be going. :)

I'd give my place to you if it was possible, UoM lover. :D
-
word of warning, the kwong lee dow thing is bullshit, pretty much an excuse for UoM to have the adresses of the states top acheiving students so they in their environmental wisdom can send out UoM propaganda.

agreed
but it's still a free UoM pass, it doesnt cost us, might as well take advantage of it whilst we can
i might be going, but now it's 50/50 since the letter gave clear indication that they are expecting some absenses and it'll be covered and i wouldnt miss anything of value (if there is value at all)
i'm supposed to be on camp, so i'll probably have fun rather than be a victim of ads, oh well lol
-
when I got the email, i thought yes! i'll be missing school!
but we have no school on that day anyway :(
what kinda 'activities' are we doing anyway?
-
By the sounds of it, tours of faculties, guest speakers, that kind of thing.
-
its actually not a free pass dude. yes, you get $2500 to travel o/s and automatic offer, BUT
monash already has funding programs fr exchange as did melbourne. you're actually staying in uni longer at melb and therfore are accruing a higher hecs debt.... your choice...

but u get a masters when u finish, which will equate to 6 yrs of HECS debt, so in fact it's saving you money
but that comes with its own disadvantages
-
^ that point makes absolutely no sense whatsoever...
you get a masters yes, but on what you have been taught there is no difference.
eg. melb JD still requires the same 16 (i think) essential units to be studied as in LLB for one to be admitted to practice law in victoria...
go figure...
-
I might be going.
I don't want to go to melb uni (can't do med there anymore), but i might go and check the activities.
-
I'll probably be going.
I also hope to do Med next year, so Melbourne Uni isn't my first preference.
Also, just wondering...
If Melbourne Uni are trying to minimise disruption to year 12 students why are they having orientation on a Friday?
-
I was wondering that too?

find me a uni that opens on weekends :P
i'm definitely not going, haha xD
-
So what did people think? I thought it was ok. More for the social aspect though. I would have liked it if we had seen more of the faculties and the uni in general (suppose thats for open day). Still, free food, drink bottle and pen, cant complain! Lol.
-
I especially like the waterbottle and pen. Some of the speakers gave out 'obvious' info, but overall it was pretty good.
-
I thought the day was also worthwhile, especially because of the social aspect and the free stuff!
However, I also thought that there was a general feeling of discontent among students about the Melbourne model. This really came through in some of the questions
asked and also through general conversations. It would have been better if more time was spent discussing the impact on students, I think.
But, on the whole, an enjoyable day!
-
ZOMG. Must of been awesome. F**K I just want in to get the unimelb pen and waterbottle. I'll treasure it for the rest of my life :P
-
You want to do Commerce @ Melbourne yes Prav?
-
*DUH*. Actuarial bud.
lool.
-
Have you worked out what sort of scores you need in your subjects to get in?
-
I agree chid. Many of the questions asked were based on confusion over the melbourne model and what impact it may have on there career paths.

lmao. You might be able to get some of the merch at open day.
-
I also don't appreciate the Melbourne Model, especially since Medicine is graduate next year.
Which group were you guys in? Blue/Red/Yellow/Green.
-

Sorry for the late reply. Had econ work to do. Yeah, I've worked out what scores I needa get. I really want to get 99 -- but that's just a premium. If I get 45 for mathematical methods, 43 for spec math and 46 for econ and 40 for english it would be all good :)
You should come to unimelb. lol. Melodrama and Ahmad know about my enthusiasm. :P

I was in red. You?
-
I can't go to Melbourne. 24 methods =(

Arn't you repeating it ?
-
I was in Blue group. I actually found the waterbottles really cool.
Btw, I think for commerce new generation you need 90 ENTER, and 85 ENTER if your from an unrepresented school. If you get 98 ENTER you get some sort of a prize...

Nope. Clashed with accounting and economics and I wasn't willing to drop those subjects which I feel I can do well in. Have a few months to work out possible other avenues.

Regardless, I don't meet the pre-requisite
-
Whats the prerequisite for it?
-
25 in methods or methods cas.
I got 24 last year (I exclude it from my signature cause it looks yuck)
-
To coblin: I am really sorry if I am confusing anyone here, but I can't actually post on some subforums, yet on others like this I can post.
For instance, I can't post this message(as in replies) on the chem subsection, but on this section I can post replies.
-
Okay, that's fucked up... you'll have to ask enwiabe to fix that.

So you dont get any consideration for doing cas instead of normal methods? Have you tried speaking with anyone at the uni based on the fact that you only missed out by one point, or are they really tight with that sort of thing?
-
Hey, Costa. Do you go to a under-represented school? If so, apply to Access Melbourne. If you achieved high for other subjects and you ended up with a great ENTER, there's a quite a chance that you may get in :)
-
I am from a under-represented school and I spoke to my careers teacher and asked her that and she said she doesn't think it affects pre-req's, only ENTER's but she probably would have as much of an idea as I do. And what you said has crossed my mind.
Maybe I'll follow it up more rigorously.
Thanks Prav!
