Can some one like Stick or Vox please start a thread for past MDs from Uni Melb to do subject reviews especially for MD1 and PCP2. It will helpful for us MD1s and future Med hopefuls to know how to revise for the 300+ lectures and which ones are not examinable etc.

Thanks in advance :)

There have been reviews put up in the past in the subject review thread though to my knowledge most of these have been taken down. I think most of us are a bit weary of criticising the medical school on a public forum, particularly where there are so many opportunities for younger years to find out some practical tips about the years to come and given that you have no choice in your subjects in any case.

It's very difficult to do seeing as how FBS encompasses a whole year of didactic content, rather than an individual subject. Unfortunately the best tip would be to rely on word-of-mouth from the now MD2s.

Advice on how to get through PCP2 and PCP3 are on the review thread.

Anyone know if deans list for commerce has been sent out yet? And are level 1/2/3 recipients all sent out at the same time/day?

They were sent out yesterday night

There's the option to graduate in absentia i.e. graduate, but not attend the ceremony. The certificate for the degree is usually mailed around a month or two after the ceremony.

Cheers for the quick reply. Is this just a piece of paper or does it come in a frame?

I was just completing a feedback test on the LMS and during which time the LMS went down for a moment. When it reloaded, it submitted my test. Has anyone had any luck with subject coordinators allowing another attempt at a test in this type of circumstance?

It really depends on how nice your subject coordinator is. Send them an email and you just might be luck!

Usually they're pretty reasonable. I guess sometimes some are more jaded because people try to take advantage of their generosity in these situations, but if you explain the situation and ask for another chance, and do so politely, I doubt you'd be knocked back.

He's already gotten back to me. He's giving me another chance and if it happens again then I will just get my original mark (which was 80% so I don't mind).

hey guys,

I just got 42% similarity on turnitin for the first time, however, it highlighted my entire reference list and phrases like 'the world', 'global climate change', 'the rural poor' and quotes from papers (which were cited properly). I've never had such a high score though so I'm worried.

Am I fucked? Obviously this doesn't sound like legit plagiarism and when you see the paper it isn't but I'm paranoid

Not sure what UoM policy is tbh but this sort of thing isn't entirely uncommon (I had an assignment once that mandated the cover page be included in the Turnitin report, and we were then asked why results were so high lol). Did much get highlighted apart from what you've noted above?

Oxford comma, Garamond, Avett Brothers, Orla Gartland enthusiast.

Not really, but there was a sentence where I talked about the predicted world population in 2050 that said I took it from a source I’ve never even seen lol

I suppose I used a lot of common phrases
There were sections that weren’t highlighted at all so surely that shows my work was original?
