Ionic's High School Journey

Hey everyone
So these past few months I've been exploring ATAR notes (once I finally learned how to use it)
A common trend I've seen is people writing journals about their journey in their final years of schooling to university. Basically that's something I wanna do as I find it a good way to reflect and express yourself about your highs and loows in life.
anyways this is something I wouldn't really do...but I wanna start pushing myself and doing new things in life ... tbh I feel like I haven't really accomplished anything in high school yet...I don't really do any extra curricular activities at school...so I'm really keen on doing well in the UCAT and VCE, so that I can get admission into my desired course (medicine), where I really wanna get involved in uni life, extracurriculars, research, etc.
Anyways this is post 1 of many to come....stay tuned ;)

ENTRY 1

So finally found some "period" of time to create this journal.
I''ll try and make this as interesting as I possibly can ...
So about a few weeks ago I experienced what is know to many  as a "hell week"
I had 3 SATS and 1 SAC all in the same week  :P
as you can imagine, I was not so happy .  . . but that didn't stop me from pushing myself  8)
So I had an English analytical essay I needed to prepare for, on Night by Ellie Wiesel, I also had methods and spec on the same day so that was sorta rough and to finish it off... a 3/4 psychology sac...yummy
Of course I put my 3/4 subject as my priority and im grateful I did cause I probably would've gotten a lower score  :-\
I am pleased to announce my scores:
English. - 80%
Methods - 72%
Psychology - 76%
Chemistry - 80%
Specialist - 45% ( lol I gave up studying for spec )
Religion and Society - 92% ( the one subject I didn't study for ... ???)
yea so these are all the score's relevant to the sat/c ' s I had done these past couple of weeks ...  I am sort of proud of myself but at the same time disappointed, I will strive to achieve greater results as I know I can achieve better scores ... hopefully by managing my time properly.
I also plan on dropping spec, cause I just die in that class ... switching to biology though.
Now that terms about to finish I can really just chill/study these last couple of weeks ... and oh yea I got DEB coming's up ...(nervous/ excited)
Well there all the "big" things going on in my life,
anything interesting happen in yours?
 :)

nah, not really . . .
I was lucky enough to finish all my tests last week, so right now I'm currently "chill - studying"
The only tasks I've been focused on this week are finishing methods and spec chapter reviews . .  . and also delving into my chemistry research investigation " Are the biomaterials that replace body parts as effective as the original materials with reference to their properties and function? "

The most interesting thing I've participated in this week, well this year tbh,  is attending the Monash Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences and MD Seminar. The evening was really interesting and enjoyable. Monash Clayton Campus also looks like a pretty cooool place to study, (state of the art facilities). The vibrant and buzzing atmosphere  was delightful to spectate. Overall that got me really motivated and I was able to confirm that medicine is the direction I wanna go . . . now to just satisfy that ATAR and UCAT requirement (yay)

Besides that all I got coming up are school holidays which means . . .
( everyone should know this_ :D  )
ATTENDING FREE VCE LECTURES curious to see what I get out of my first lecture and hopefully able to cement my learning from this term.

anyways

さようなら

Can confirm that I love studying at Clayton campus :)

What subject is your favourite atm?
What's drawn you so strongly to med?

my favourite subject atm is 3/4  psychology . . . I wish I picked up biology from the start of the year but instead chose to do spec for the scaling; I now regret that,  but will switch to biology at the start of 2nd semester.

What's  drawn me so closely to med,
haha I don't really  know ?
I find it intriguing and interesting . . . (always have)  :)
my local doctor also got me motivated,  he gave me quick biology lessons on diseases, bacterias and infections whenever I had  a checkup, as did my. optometrist. When I told her I'm  interested in med she did a crash course with me  and informed me about  parts and functions of the eye. And my dentist even offered me work experience, which I have yet to take up when I find the time.  ;D

and no other career appeals to me right now. . . .  :(
humanity subjects : boring (no offence)
maths: sorta good at it ( don't love it/ don't hate it)
science: ( I'd take a bullet for it)

my parents are proud that im trying for med,  but I already told them that I'm not doing It for them. Im doing it for myself and because it's seems like an  amazing field.

and I hope all my hard work these 2 years pay of ( wish me luck )

AWESOME
pretty well done in my opinion. Even though I don't do bio rn I still went to the 1/2 bio lecture and I forgot his name but the lecturer did a great job and I came out with some pretty cool and relevant info. Thank you bio 1/2 lecturer
now I got 4 more left and hopefully there similar or even better than this lecture but I am definitely looking forward to it.!

ENTRY 2
Well the holidays are halfway done and the intensity is starting to rise . . .
like most VCE and HSC students I am loaded with holiday homework for pretty much all my subjects
For chemistry I have a research investigation due on biomaterials and their purpose in the human body
For methods I have to basically update my summary book and get through revision on functions as we have a test second day back!  :(
For spec . . . don't even get me started ( I have nightmares about it)
For Psych, well basically just revision,  but I've gone to the liberty of making flowcharts and posters too stick around my room cause apparently it's a good learning technique . . . gotta wait and see how that plays out.
and finally for English we just have to produce a creative piece relating to the movie " Secret Life of Walter Mitty" so I guess thats not to badd.

anyways besides all that work I gotta finish I have 4 more lectures to attend this weekend
so my schedule is fully booked. but gotta admit after attending 1/2 bio I'm keen on attending my other subjects as well. I also just recently signed up for a tutesmart seminar on how to ACE VCE, and I signed up for it because of 2 reasons
1. Tips and tricks to maximise learning
2. After the seminar were allowed to hang around and ask some of the tutors there for help . . . so I figured I could get help with some of the extended response methods questions I'm struggling with.

besides that the only other interesting things im currently doing are
- talking my dog for walks
- playing golf with friends
- sleeping
- watching Netflix
- scrolling through atar notes forums

"interesting for me at least"

anyways gotta go back to this research assignment so see ya's

hello users of AN  ( gay intro )  8)
Well, first week back was fun . . . had like 3 SATS straight away, so as you can imagine. . . the holidays weren't really holidays, just 2 weeks of pure revision. Also got back my Argument analysis and was pretty depressed with the score, considering I wanna switch to English language but I will prove my teachers wrong in the mid year exam. Other than that we just completed functions in methods and surprisingly I really liked this topic, mainly because it was relatively straightforward except I struggle at finding the rules of functions and application question which like always show up on tests/exam. Completed my specialist test today as well . . . I can already 100% guarantee that I failed. The worst feeling is that everyone in my spec class must think I'm stupid or something but spec just ain't my subject. . . wish I picked up bio or HHD instead ( I will though soon  ;) )

Also got athletics carnival tomorrow which is gonna suckkk.
I'm a swimmer not a runner
anyways my house motto at school is "PARTICIPATION" so of course I had to sign up for some event . . . I chose discuss and know I will get 'deleted' from the event because of my pathetic technique/throw whatever and the fact that I'm not exactly huge like discuss people usually are ( generalisation lol )

anyways there's my journal

I know it's pretty bland but at some point in the next year and a half it should spice up a little . . . if I learn how to actually write.

Anyways peace 🤘

WEEK 4 TERM 2

Hello everyone!
Well this just a bit of an update on my current school life

Psychology 3/4
Had a SAC on learning, which I spent hours preparing for. . . .
Unfortunately a couple of days leading up to the SAC I got a nasty cold/virus which basically left me paralysed in bed for two days . . .
and when the SAC came around I wasn't feeling 100% but I gave it a good shot . . . if felt relatively easy though, too easy  ???
However i feel like a stuffed up a few questions and im starting to feel anxious on my performance . . . I really wanna get above 40 for psych and I don't want this one SAC to jeapordize this.

Chemistry
Were finally learning about the Mole in Chemistry, were being taught by a student teacher from Melbourne Uni and she really knows how to teach. Lessons are pretty chill but this topic does confuse me sometimes but I make sure I follow up with anything I don't know

Methods
Had a test on functions last term, studied really hard by finishing every question in the textbook, doing all practise sats and binge watching youtube videos related to the topic . . .
and guess what . . .
come out with a 62%  >:(
im so pissed but after checking my mistakes I  . .. . yeah idk

Specialist
'hate it'
not going to elaborate on this any further

English
Got a creative SAC and an oral due in a period of 5 days so the grind is on.
I hate orals but very people enjoy it .. . . so I know I can get through it

Other than that got exams coming up in a matter of 2 weeks . . . so I guess I'm gonna try and finish all the content this week to give myself more time to revise . . . our school usually gives us like a week of revision before exams but I feel like that aint enough for me so, GOTTA START EARLY.

Besides that the only other thing I'm doing is preparing for tennis comps and waiting to drop spec  :D

Anyways thanks for reading this update if u read this far

See yas  8)

Psych - try not to stress too much if you can avoid it. Sounds like you gave it your best crack given the circumstances, and even if you didn't do as well as you hoped, one SAC in all likelihood won't affect too much. :)

today psych teacher made eye contact with me and said " you did good on the SAC"

although I don't know if it was directed towards me or someone next to me idk. ahhh. I'm so excited/nervous now, can't wait to get SAC marks back early next week after they finish cross marking  ;D
