Hi Guys,
In the holidays I'm going to need to analyse and read 1984 for term 1 next year. As it will be before I start studying it in class, I was wondering what are the main themes, techniques, links to Metropolis, context etc things that I should be looking for so that I can annotate while I read?
Thank you

Hey J.B, if I was you I would check out the Notes section of ATARNotes as well as websites like Spark Notes, Lit Charts and Cliff Notes to get you acquainted with the main ideas in the text. Also have a bit of a research about context while you're online, that includes stuff about George Orwell.

Unless you're an absolute genius you're probably not going to be able to annotate as you read for the first time. But once you've read the book it will be super easy to go back and highlight important quotes etc.

Hey hey! As Sarah mentioned, you should check out these notes on the novel from our notes section! They might give you some ideas on what to look for, but you should definitely add your own as you go! Important to get your own perspective in there ;D
