Hey team, let's talk improvements for the podcast!

What would make it better?

Hey team, let's talk improvements for the podcast!

What would make it better?
Cut the background sound immediately when you start talking, I found it difficult hearing the introduction with the background music.
I can't speak for the content since I'm well versed in the topic, but i'm sure someone has a better opinion on it.
What I will ask is "What is the goal/outcome this podcast aiming for?"

Goal: to help as many VCE/HSC/uni students as possible, in any which way.

More anecdotes from Brenden 8)

Nah, reckon having a recap of the key messages/points would be a good thing, but apart from that, was incredibly solid.

If you want to hear Alter's dulcet tones or my lispy whinge (and a little bit of airconditioning hum), you can now listen to our second podcast! In this podcast, we're chatting about what university's actually like, and how it differs from high school - appropriate for everybody to listen to. :D

We haven't promoted this at all yet - it's a forum exclusive! ;)

Listen here!

In this episode, we chat about how you should approach tests/assessments, and also the best ways to deal with the subsequent feedback. Small things can have a big impact on your eventual results. ;)

Unsure if you still taking suggestions Joseph, but something I would really like would be a longer-form of content.
In particular interviews
with for example the Tutesmart Tutors and even some of the more prolific AN users.

Something like this, but longer and more in depth. I feel this would be enjoyable to the listeners, since they can listen to it while studying and glean some takeaways on how to perform well in academic life - but also life in general. As for the interviewee, well just knowing your helping some user on this site and increasing your reach to help other users in a different medium.

I would also like a transcript, timestamp and/or notes of resources mentioned on the podcast if possible (e.g. Episode mentions the app Timeweave, a link in the notes to where listeners can access it).

Yeah, 100%! Thanks zofromuxo - definitely noted. :)

Alter and I recorded another couple of podcasts the other week, but I'm going to sit on them for a little bit. The annoying aircon background noise issue is frustrating me, and I don't think they're that conducive to relaxing listening as a result haha. Instead, if all goes well I'm planning to record another podcast together with one of our TuteSmart tutors and forum members, howey. I'm at a different office now, so I'm hoping the acoustics will be much nicer! :)

EPISODE 4 IS NOW LIVE. 🎙️🎙️🎙️

And, thankfully, with no aircon interference. ;) We recorded this one at Mulgrave - hopefully it's made a difference!

The special guest is ATAR Notes tutor, howey. In this episode, we talk about the importance of using your holidays effectively, and how you can actually do that. Let us know what you think!

Tonight, we'll be recording a new podcast with one of our TuteSmart tutors, Janna. She's in her second year of med school, so the focus of the podcast will be on all things Medicine. Feel free to leave any questions here if you want us to ask them on your behalf!

We'll also be opening the floor for questions for future podcasts. We figure the best way to help y'all, is to actually answer the questions you have. :)

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team for starting this - every single one of them is extremely useful and it just gives me a chance to reflect upon my study habits and implement some new snazzy things that you as high-achievers and uni students talk about!  ;D

Haha! Didn't even notice the air con!!  ;D ;D coz I was listening so attentively to your heavenly voices  ;D ;D

And yeah just thought to request a Law podcast? From someone doing law at Uni? Also, how does it work when you're doing a double degree with law as one of them? How do they manage this work load? How much of VCE Legal Studies is paralleled at Uni?

Sorry for so many questions!  ::)
Just really exciting if we had a law podcast :)

Want to test out podcasting via Skype. Would anybody from the forums be interested in featuring? All it requires is Skype, and a headset with a speaker in it. :) Even if you don't want it published, would be cool to do it as a test.

This is awesome! Besides a couple of audio glitches it's really good. Also, it would probably be good to level the audio - I was listening through headphones and Nick was fully on the left side and Adam was fully on the right. Would love to hear from more students!
(Also Nick that voice break on ~1:30 is amazing. <3 )

Thanks poet. Am aware of that audio thing - will work on seeing how to fix it (think it's just because of the software I used to record Skype (which also explains the glitches haha)).

EDIT: And thanks - I'm just starting puberty.

Now that you mention it, it sounds kinda cool really. Kinda like nick is the interviewer on the left hand side of a microphone and im on the other side answering questions.
It sounds soooo weird hearing my own voice being played back to me like that!

It's probably just the channels that causing this problem. So when recording, try to keep channels 1 and 2 both turned on to ensure the audio actually records on both left and right sides. Though, you can always fix it in post if needed ;) (on Adobe Audition or something) my film school-ness is obviously showing I need to stop aha

Besides from that, that was a good podcast! Go Adam!!

Hi everybody! The next edition of the podcast will feature none other than our good friend K888. We're taking questions to get to on the podcast below! You can ask questions about anything, whether they be about doing well in high school, transitioning to uni, getting through first and/or second year, moving out of home for uni, anything Physio-specific, or, y'know, anything else at all!

And we'll get to as many as possible on the podcast. :)

I would love to hear about moving out of home -- specifically budgeting and homesickness. How do you know how much money you need for, say, groceries one week? And pros and cons of living on campus or renting with roommates in a house + what made you choose your current living situation.

Thanks for doing this Joseph41 and K888!!

Hey!

What was your dream job/future aspirations before year 12? Were you always aiming for physio, or did something change your mind?
Did you have resources/support when you moved out of home? How did you afford it?
Where do you hope to be 10 years from now?
