I reckon my top artists have to be Billie Eilish, Daughter, Halsey, NEEDTOBREATHE and Hillsong. Super interested to see what I've actually been listening to. ;D

How on earth did I miss Halsey when I was doing my predictions? My top artist for the decade! Luckily Billie, Daughter and Hillsong were all in there! I reckon that NEEDTOBREATHE would have been a close sixth. ;D

My wrapped is below. It's not entirely accurate of my listening habits because I listen to a lot of classical music and Spotify gets confused with all the different credited artists. I also use YouTube for classical music a lot if I find a different recording. I personally think that Beethoven would have been in my top 5 easily if Spotify knew what to do when multiple artists are credited.

Expectations
I was like 99.99999% sure that my top artists would have to include at least a couple of the following:
- Max Richter
- Ólafur Arnalds
- Ben Howard
- Keaton Henson
- Novo Amor
- SYML
- Bon Iver
- Lee DeWyze

This is because I've been listening to this ONE playlist on repeat for a couple months now, that has songs from all of these artists. My favourite songs from this playlist are:
- On the Nature of Daylight by Max Richter
- This Place is a Shelter by Ólafur Arnalds
- So Far by Ólafur Arnalds
- Oats in the Water by Ben Howard
- You by Keaton Henson
- Where's My Love by SYML
- Blackbird Song by Lee DeWyze

My Actual "Wrapped"
My top artists:
1. AURORA
2. NF
3. SYML
4. EDEN
5. Tame Impala

My Top Songs:
1. Wake Up by EDEN
2. White Blood by Oh Wonder
3. Running With The Wolves by AURORA
4. Sleep Thru Ur Alarms by Lontalius
5. K by Cigarettes After Sex

Same.

Surprised that Olly Murs topped that list - I didn't think I'd listened to that much of their music. But then I don't think I spent a massively disproportionate amount of time on any one artist/song this year, unlike last year.

I listened to about 9 thousand minutes in 2017, 237 thousand minutes in 2018, and 161 thousand minutes in 2019, so not surprised that my decade wrapped is very similar to last years.

Really supprised at my 2019 wrapped but my decade wrapped sums me up...mostly
Suprised the Billie topped the list and confused why Khalid is on there at all.

Decade wrapped is a bit different - "The Weeknd" is at 2, Kendrick at 3 and Travis Scott at 5 with the other two positions  - 1 and 4 the same.

I barely listened to podcasts this year tbh. My top podcast had ~5 hours of listen time.
Podcasts

There is a top 100 songs playlist that Spotify has made for users which I think is really accurate, unlike the last few years which I think has been at times quite random.

Most of my mainstream pop/pop rock/synthpop/indie stuff from early in the year topped the list this year; which was unsurprising. Listened to 210+ hours of Twenty One Pilots apparently, and about 1848 hours (110889 mins or something). Julia Michaels, CHVRCHES, Imagine Dragons and AJR made up the rest of my top 5.

There is a top 100 songs playlist that Spotify has made for users which I think is really accurate, unlike the last few years which I think has been at times quite random.

In previous years I think this was quite a random thing; apparently they had some algorithm that made the playlist on 'similar sounding' music as opposed to music you actually listened to. I think this year it was just straight out your top 100.

If Hozier is not my #1 artist I will eat my hat. First step is to buy a hat.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody:

Interesting seeing how I change throughout the years:

slight skew as some of my favourite albums are on my phone so i have fewer spotify listens. #1 being the hozier debut album aka my fav. and the rest are black metal albums

Not sure what order but I’m sure Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Panic! at the Disco will be in my top five.

2019 top artists
1. Taylor Swift
2. MARINA
3. Ariana Grande
4. Camilla Cabello
5. Lauv

Genuinely surprised to see Lauv on the list but no Panic! ????

47,479 minutes listened (lesser compared to last year but still a lot of minutes my god)

My Decade Wrapped:

Top artists:

1. Taylor Swift (wow I am so surprised ??? jks been a stan since 2007 love u t swizzle)
2. MARINA
3. Original Broadway Cast of Hamilton (hilarious but also yes)
4. Panic! at the Disco
5. Ariana Grande

I wonder what the 20's will bring

Lol I'm here not knowing who almost any of these artists are.

I'm quite old school in my music, and as such listen to stuff like MJ, Billy Jean, The beatles etc.
Imo old is gold for music!

Honestly surprised that most of my top genre is pop but then I remembered that literally everything else I listen to (folk, classical, musical theatre and indie) I do through Youtube (hence, the shockingly low number of minutes listened) and the top songs were in a playlist I created specifically for hanging out with my friends and driving them around. I also started listening to Bazzi completely as a meme and he managed to somehow dominate my 2019 playlist. Classic case of listening to music ironically and it somehow leading to unironic enjoyment. The new Jonas Brothers and Westlife albums also really pulled me in to their current music, as well as some of my favourite nostalgia hits.

I think if anything, 2019's really encouraged me to embrace music more holistically rather than restricting to a certain genre and/or artist. This is also my first year having Spotify so I'm keen to see how things change next year  :)
