Bachelor of science (Science electives)

Hi all,
Prob it’s just a simple question but i still prefer to ask...
For UNSW bachelor of science, u are supposed to choose 5 science elective courses as the major I want to do is psychology.
My question is that if ur major is already psycho, can u still put other psycho courses as science electives? Or they need to be something else?
Also, in the enrolment page, I couldn’t see anywhere that allows u to choose a major but only places to enrol courses... so do u just put in all the courses that u need to do for ur major there?

Thanks a lot!

Nancy

As per the UNSW handbook entry, the 5 "Science Elective Courses" you do can be from any of the faculties stated in the corresponding tab. (Note that the tab appears right beneath the majors and minors tabs.)

Note that the tab says you must do at least 12 UoC (2 courses) of science electives. In your case, the reason why you have the ability to do 5 is because you have 30 UoC leftover from (108 UoC of science minus 78 UoC of the psychology major).

As for the major declaration, that happens after you've finished enrolling. Students typically don't declare a major until after their 1st or 2nd year of university, but you are allowed to any time you want (after finishing enrolment). Once your enrolment is complete, on myUNSW you will have a "Student Profile" tab. Go into it, and then down the left there will be an option saying "Stream Declaration". That is where you can declare your psychology major.

(Implying yes - you put your courses down before declaring the major.)

Thank you so much! Understand all now :)
