I've signed up the the 15 km run for the kids. Been running in that event for the past two years. Managed a time of 73 minutes last year without any training. I'm the kind of person who gets motivated in big crowds which is why my heart told me to keep going and I managed to complete the entire run without stopping when my legs were more or less fried. Literally could not squat for a week after the run haha...

I'm hoping to get near the 60 mins mark this year as I've been consistently training for badminton throughout the past 9 months or so and my stamina is much better than what it was one year ago. (I do 3x 10km fast jogs and 2x2hr of on court training. Also play 3x 3-4hrs of social badminton per week)

It takes me about 15 minutes to run 3kms. I'm not as fit as all of you, but I'm trying to get my fitness up by going for a jog 1-2 times per week.

What time do you usually run at? Is it weird that I go for a jog late at night, such as between 10pm and 3am?

I normally run at around 5pm if doing intervals, however i enjoy running at night, around 9pm-10pm. Both Christmas eve and new years eve i did my long run at 9:30pm lol

Lazy !! :P

The 5km Event is $47 of which $29 is donated to the Hospital.

Haha, not so sure about a stall but you can enter as a team. I've already entered the 15km unfortunately with no affiliation, however if a few people on this thread express interest maybe the first person to register for the 5km can set up an AN Team and let the others know the name etc. for when they register?

Just an idea if a few are going to do it.

I'm in as well. We can start an expression of interest thread closer to the date :)

Me, I'm a slow runner. I can only manage 8km in 45 minutes. average pace of about 5:30. I run at the beach, this was during the day and the sun was killing me! Got a slow as 50 minutes for 8km.

I'm running again tomorrow, but in the morning 5:30ish, so I'll see how fast I can do it then. I always get those damn stitches too haha. That slows me down a little.

I use an app called Nike Run, it's awesome, everyone get on it and add me as a friend :). It's got a really nice interface.

Ahh okay, fair enough. I can't justify buying something like that when my iPhone does most of it to be honest. It's probably more accurate though!

I normally prefer to run without anything in my pockets. Anyone else find having things in your pockets (or even shorts with empty pockets) annoying when running? The only thing I carry is a small bottle of water strapped to my waist if I intend to run a long distance.

I get what you mean, stuff moves about a lot. Especially if you have a phone, they move around heaps because of their weight. I've gotten used to it I think. My pockets aren't too big so I guess that limits it's movement somewhat.

But that said, I also have an arm band to use, they're awesome. The problem with mine is that my arm is too small so it doesn't go on tight enough. So embarrassing :P. My goal is to get my arms big enough to wear the armband. :)

Bump. Anyone have any specific running goals for this year? (I've probably said this before) but I hope to run/jog 14ks for an event

I've started running again over summer now than my knee is up to it post reco for a torn acl :p I got motivated by putting out my running gear the night before and then I get up 40 minutes earlier, run for 30 minutes, stretch for 5 before and after. I also find the app runkeeper very helpful as it tells you exactly how far you've run and the time so you can see real progression.
