I've done a few literature reviews (not the length of one required for honours/HDR but a 'smaller' version) and it is essentially a summary and analysis of relevant research that you have found relating to a topic. So the first thing is to find research that is relevant, and go from there. Honestly, they are boring as bat shit and I would strongly recommend (if you have a choice) to avoid them at all costs. I've lost a lot of hair doing lit reviews.

I like this guide: http://www.citewrite.qut.edu.au/write/litreview.jsp  .. but check with your unit to see if there's any sort of guide/framework that you need to follow.
I never left. Have been doing assignments all week.. I technically don't even attend uni.. do you really count 2 days a week as attending? I would consider my MTeach as coursework by distance. We use a flipped classroom model which basically means 'do all the work at home and come to your workshops to be adult and talk to each other about it'. IMO I think it's a cost-cutting technique but apparently it's beneficial to my learning or something.
Can't avoid the lit review hahah thanks for the guide!

I got 5 days a week but ehh I don't really mind tbh

I think this will depend on the particular assessor, but from anecdotal experience, I highly doubt it.

Of my 3 exams, 2 of them are 6pm-8pm ones. I don't know if that's a good thing.

I've been told that even if it's 1 second late, it's counted as a whole 24 hours, which is pretty savage.

Night exams were introduced after my last exam, thankfully. But for some people, I'm sure they're much, much better. Generally, when do you work best?

Yeah, so I guess it is a unit-by-unit thing. Fingers crossed, ccdes0001!

I don't really have a time I work best. I think it's more wanting to get it over and done with, but then again, I appreciate the extra time in the morning in case I need to brush up on anything. Linguistics had the luck of 6pm and being right after swotvac.

Some concepts I can understand easier than others (probably due to interest), the others I can't wrap my head around at all, but I guess that innately comes with an introductory unit trying to touch on various branches of linguistics. The lecturers do a good job of making the harder concepts easier to grasp though (Howard Manns is incredible!).

As much as I like Kate as a lecturer, anything to do with historical linguistics (relationships between languages, and language change over time) is rough. Minor parts of morphology and phonology are too, though I do enjoy the practical components of them (namely, trying to transcribe words using the IPA, and identifying morphemes from foreign data).

We sound similar hahaha. This pretty much summarises my first year linguistics experience.

It really does vary according to the policy in place for your faculty and the individual assessor. I've submitted an assignment late by 42 seconds and have been deducted the 10% for an education essay (back in my first semester), and some just don't care.. I recall one specific scenario where someone submitted 2-3 days late and they didn't dock any marks.

If you feel that you are going to be submitting late for whatever reason - I know that most lecturers or tutors are quite reasonable, in the sense that if you need an extra day they will hear you out (whatever the reason).

Rule of thumb: Don't ever submit late, and if you do really need that extra time... ask for an extension for a day or two (there's a certain maximum number of days they can grant extensions without having to go through formal channels).
