The best covers

A thread everyone should be able to get into! Post the best covers of songs -- famous or otherwise -- you've come upon!

'Hallelujah' by Jeff Buckley and 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash don't count as they're arguably more famous than the originals :)

Off the top of my head:

'Come together' -Aerosmith is hands down better than than the Beatles orignal

'Here Comes the Sun' -Sebastian and Belle (originally done by the Beatles, I think)

'Knocking on Heaven's Door' - Various artists have done this and I can't chose which one I like the most (don't ask me who did the original haha) ;D

I didn't even know 'Come Together' was not written by Aerosmith!

It was written by Bob Dylan, but I -- along with most people -- know it from Guns N' Roses :D

Quick question: are you my brother? I don't listen to rap, but I know all the lyrics because he plays it in his car constantly haha

If anyone is curious about what a Blink-182 song sung in the style of Johnny Cash mixed with In Flames would sound like, then it's your lucky day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sViblh4p_bs

This is a pretty cool rock cover of Mississipi Queen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXNnYKqxy9g

"You think" jesus bejesus. Here comes the sun is a classic. One of the few Beatles songs done by George Harrison. The cover isn't bad though. Surprising that it's actually in the same style as the original.

Wrecking Ball by London Grammar is really, really different to the original and very good.

And just to balance things up for poor Miley, she's actually done some really good covers:

Summertime Sadness (Lana del Rey
Jolene (Dolly Parton)
2013-15: BBiomed (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), UniMelb
2016-20: MD, UniMelb
2019-20: MPH, UniMelb
2021-: GDipBiostat, USyd

I'm in love with this cover :D :

It's basically a sing off between The Vamps and Conor Maynard to the background music of Shape of You. They do a bunch of different covers.

I have a bit of an eclectic mix here :D

Must say I enjoy a bit of Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm. Great cover.
I also prefer Aron Wright's cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World to the original (by Tears for Fears). Any cover Bastille do is generally awesome, and a lot of the stuff Peter Hollens does is top notch, too.

Not an official cover, but my high school had a house music competition each year, and one of the houses last year did the most amazing cover of Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 - wayyyyyy better than the original. Unfortunately, don't have it on video, so just have my memories to go by :(

It wouldn't be a covers thread without mentioning the Piano Guys. Just don't make me single a single fave out any of the covers they've done! ;D

You might like Pellek. Obligatory 'I am a hipster and listened to him in his power metal band before he got big doing covers' claim :P

Sometimes he overdoes it with the falsetto, and honestly, he can't put too much emotion in his voice at times. I personally like when his accent shines through though. Definitely got some raw talent though. This is a nice example.

This is an instrumental cover of a prog-metal song called Harvest by a celloist I listen to called Raphael Weinroth-Browne. It's perfect music for listening to in the background while doing other things. Highly recommend for any cello fans.
