My preferences changed around quite a lot. I used to have mostly science / engineering courses as my backups but in the end I swapped most of them for commerce.

1. Science, Chancellors Scholars - UniMelb (yeah, not happening)
2. Science / Veterinary Medicine - UniMelb
3. Commerce / Computer Science - Monash
4. Commerce - UniMelb
5. Commerce / Actuarial Science - Monash
6. Commerce / Finance - Monash
7. Applied Data Science Hons - Monash
8. Commerce - Monash

While I'm pretty confident I can get into my second preference I really don't want to risk it!

1. Science/Computer Science
2. Applied Data Science Advanced (Honours)
3. Applied Data Science

All at Monash. Only really put down three because the first one only requires an 85 and I'm already sitting on two 45+ study scores.
2018: Methods (47), Accounting (46)
2019: English (44), Physics (47), Spec (49), Software Development (50)
ATAR: 99.90

1) engineering/computer Science - swi burne
2) computer and network engineering/computer science  - rmit
3) engineering/computer science - monash
4) telecommunications engineering/computer science - rmit
5) engineering/ information technology - monash
(then some backup comp Sci courses)

I'm feeling very sure of my choice of the type of course I want to pursue. Just struggling to decide what uni.

I like the option of choosing from lots of majors later on in the course and not being locked in from the start at Swinburne because I'm indecisive and might want to do electrical engineering.

But I also feel like it's a bit smaller and maybe a more 'well known' uni would be better for me like rmit. As I like the computer and network engineering.

Any opinions on Swinburne VS rmit VS Monash? I know Monash is more theory based.

Aye that's a great combination but also really workload heavy. If your like me who can only give 100% of their effort to one area you might find it better to do your Science and Comp courses separately. That's what I tend to do now. Otherwise if your someone who can work on multiple different areas at once you'll be alright!

1. Bachelor of Arts Melbourne Uni
2. Bachelor of Arts/Teaching Melbourne Uni
3. Bachelor of Psychology (Social Sciences) RMIT
4. Bachelor of Arts Victoria Uni
5. Bachelor of Creative Writing RMIT

I really wanted to go for the Arts degree at Melbourne because I think the Melbourne Model allows me do to so many things. I was scared of choosing just one subject and not being able to explore other options, but the model allows a lot of opportunity.

1. Bachelor of Arts Melbourne Uni
2. Bachelor of Arts/Teaching Melbourne Uni

I don’t know if you’re still allowed changes to preferences but if you can, I highly suggest swapping your top two around, even if you aren’t set on teaching. BA/MTeach at UoM requires a 95 but BA by itself is only 85, but as your offer is given out according to the order you put them in, that means even if you get 95+ you won’t be able to get into BA/MTeach as you’ve already fulfilled what is required for your top preference, so you would only get BA.

If you get into BA/MTeach you’re not obligated to actually do Master of Teaching should you change your mind, the uni would just reserve you a guaranteed spot for the course after you complete BA. As for the BA itself, it would still be exactly the same as doing BA without the guarantee.

(PS. The Melbourne Model is great ;))

1. How do your preferences look at the moment?
(1) Commerce/Science - Monash University
(2) Commerce/Arts - Monash University
(3) Arts/Teaching (Graduate degree package) - University Of Melbourne
(4) Science/Arts - Monash University
(5) Commerce/Finance - Monash University
(6) Commerce - Monash University
(7) Science - Monash University
(8) Nursing - Monash University

2. How are you feeling about your preferences?
Pretty good honestly. There was a lot of contemplation about what course I was going to aim for but I think I've finally been able to decide. I'm kinda worried I won't be able to hit a 25 for methods which is why I have the Arts/Teaching as well as the Science/arts courses in there, and worse comes to worse a science or a nursing course if I don't score high enough will suffice.

3. Do you think they’ll change? If so, how?
I doubt it. If I do decide to change them, it'll most likely be for courses that require a lower ATAR to get into if I'm not confident with how I went on the final exams.

4. What are you aiming/ hoping for (i.e. careers/ career paths)? Will you be going headfirst into the world of higher education or taking a break next year?

I'll most definitely be starting Uni straight away just so I can continue and finish my path of education to get into the working world. In terms of career paths, I'm looking towards completing a master of teaching at either Melbourne Uni/Monash Uni, and then moving on to hopefully teaching secondary students.

Congratulations on making it above and beyond a 25 in Methods!!!! I also worry that next year I won’t be able to do so.
