Eng Lang section A
« on: November 12, 2020, 05:01:43 pm »
Guys I was aiming to do well on section a for Lang (13+) but I think I might’ve stuffed up the last question. Does anyone have what the last question exactly was?
I thought it was “analyse the features of this spoken discourse” so I talked about some prosodic features alongside openings/topic management but afterwards I heard someone say they did like openings/closing, non-fluency features, pauses/ fillers etc as if it was “analyse the spoken discourse features”.
Did I read the question wrong?? I’m afraid I won’t get any marks now as I didn’t really do the “features of spoken discourse” as per the study design. so that probs ruins my chances of doing well :/

That sounds fine.  I generally advise students when dealing with that kind of phrasing (which has come up three times now in the past five exams) to incorporate bits of "spoken discourse features" (have a look at 2017's assessment report, for example), but prosody is also acceptable.
