From memory, I was asked on things like:

- How I'd improve the school/school culture
- What my understanding of a leader was
- Why I'd be suitable for the role
- How I'd demonstrated from Y7-11 that I'd be suitable for the role
- Examples of leadership I'd demonstrated outside school
- Vision for the year ahead
- Changes I'd make if I had complete authority

And then some specific questions relating to my application (it was a three-part process for us: written application, speech, interview).

Good luck! :)

- how you'd balance school captain responsibilities with study commitments
- what you would do as school captain
- representing the school type questions
- how you'd use your previous leadership experience

Hi There!

From my experience, what Bri & Joseph have said is pretty much spot on in terms of what you'll be asked. I think in addition, there may be some things along the lines of:
- how you've influenced the school in any capacity of leadership in the past (school specific!)
- your implementation of school values (depending on if your school has them/mentions them often)
- how you'll 'connect' the stakeholders in the school (bringing positive student-teacher relationships)

My biggest piece of advice is to try and be: specific, unique and confident. If you can master all of those things in whatever you say, you're going to put yourself in the best position to get the role!

Hi J_Rho! :)

When I had my interview I was asked questions like this:
- What is the most important trait that a leader must have?
- What are the top 3 attributes that would make you a good school captain?
- Next year will be stressful, what people would you turn to if you need help?
- If students are misbehaving, are you willing to pull them up on their behaviour and correct them? How would you handle the situation?

Some other people were asked questions like: Have you broken any rules?
And stuff like that.

Tips for breaking the ice... humour is a good tool. Don't overdo it though. I wouldn't worry too much about breaking the ice, they'll understand that you are probably nervous and they will lead the interview. They might ask you questions like: How are you? or How's your day so far? before getting straight into all of the questions. So yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about this. Just remember to be yourself, relax (if you can) and have fun :)

Not sure if mentioned, but it might also be good to have a brief think about some curly questions, like "what's your biggest weakness as a leader"?
