Opinions for:
Law double degree @ Monash or 'Melbourne model' undergraduate degree, try JD
? ? ? ? ? ?
Cheers!
I can't really give you that much of a comparison as I haven't studied at Melb Uni but I am absolutely loving it at Monash. In my opinion, it's the way to go if you get the ATAR required straight off the bat. The level of 'prestige' between the two is negligible and a lot of practicing lawyers have told me that their employers didn't even care about the university itself (they were much more interested in their WAM/GPA, volunteering etc). If you come to Monash, you can study say Arts (like me) and spend half of your time chilling out and doing something you enjoy (not saying that it's easy but still) and the other half concentrating on your Law units. You're with people your own age and all of you are forced to battle through case law etc together and I've found that this has really helped me. I'm not sure how things are at Melb Uni but I imagine that if you're with a cohort of people aged ~23-~60 it'd be difficult to study with them and still enjoy yourself (haha).
However, this is asked by tons of people every single year and the answer really depends on your location, motivation/s, friends etc etc.
