Ahaha yeah f.e my bad. Didn't realise I was devaluing someone's opinion... i viewed it more as subtly presenting an opposing view attached with it a question... It was a genuine question and i didnt write it to undermine him in any way, sorry if i did bud :)

and yeah to be honest i think you may be right, I personally have no idea and im fairly certain you have way more knowledge on how the number at the end of this year works aha :P

but yeah mate ive played dota so that kind of passive aggression is nothing compared to the roasting you experience playing lol

Oh and about the judge-free part, yeah I know it's impossible to have a judge-free place anywhere in life. But as this is a forum specifically focused on education I thought that people would self-censor their comments and think about the possible implications of their posts

That also applies to me, so I need to be more careful before typing stuff out from now on aha

How did you determine that you were around a 45 as opposed to a 48-50?
Was it performance on practice exams? Or more to do with in-depth knowledge?

Sometimes some people (me 2014) think they know the course better than they do because of one great performance on a vcaa exam ( I got 117/120 on 2013 before the actual exam last year)

It's really not the case, because there are so many gaps, deficiencies and what not present that you never really find out until 1. A question screws you up on a sac/exam or 2. You repeat and re learn and contrast you one year later to how you were a year ago. For me, I kept a track of all the practice exam scores I did last year, and I had improvements of 5-20 /120 on each set that I redid this year. Quite amazing really.

You see the way you phrased it and the way you specifically responded to him suggests that he created the fuss and hence the derogatory sort of inference.

There's a common term for this in sport, referees tend to see the 'punch back' instead of the initial provocation. I'm just trying to objectively see this scenario, albeit of a bit of bias maybe (I don't quite agree with your statement but hey, it's possible).

In an ideal utopian society, sure :) Hahahahaha
I'd say that AN is really quite close to it though, like really close.

Sorry to bother again but should I be alternating between each company as I'm doing the exams (e.g. mav 2010, neap 2011, insight 2012) or should I finish a all of one company's before starting another?

I don't necessarily think it makes a difference exactly which companies you alternate, but I wouldn't think it would be optimal to do all one company then move on because the styles of question papers may change. If you want to follow a system, I'd recommend doing all of one year's as opposed to one company's. You don't want to become an expert on Heffernan papers then all of a sudden become discouraged because the MAV papers are so different (don't know if they actually are, just an example). If you go back to the link I sent you in my first reply, my final response had a guided timeline that I'm following. It alternates papers of similar recommended difficulty. So I start with Heffernan and VCAA just to get a feel, then alternate a few easier company papers, when I'm familiar I'll alternate a few of the harder companies. Just note that it isn't necessarily the company that you should be hung up on, but the comparison to VCAA papers and how easy/difficult they are for you. Look for the difficulty, and there may be a few companies that are similar, so follow it through that way :) let us know how you're going!

The optimal figure I hear is around 30 before results start to stagnate...

To avoid this happening (drastically), go through all your mistakes and figure out your weaknesses...

I've maybe done 20, and my results have not stagnated yet...I'm ranging from 40/80 to 74/80...Quite scary...

Is anyone finding Neap and MAV pretty hard? There are so many questions I haven't encountered before

I haven't done Neap's yet, but MAV's yes! so different, but a lot of people here say that Neap and MAV are the closest/most similar to VCAA so if you master them you're doing well!

Just wondering, how many practise exams have you done, and have you been scoring well?

I'm finding Mav to be perfect, a bit above VCAA but nothing stupid. Just marking 2009 exam 2 now tho so that opinion could change ahaha, definately one of the harder mavs i've done

as for neap, i find them to be a bit harder than mav but still good quality

honestly, I've been really slack with my exams :'( only done like 10. not scoring too well, around 34/40 exam 1 and around 50/60 exam 2, but haven't hit my intense study period yet, hoping that will drastically change when I go intense.

Good question.. I'm not really waiting for anything, its just the thought of doing them daunts me to death, like what if I don't understand a question or can't do this or don't remember that.. Stupid little thoughts that should encourage me to do it just make me not want to.. I don't know, probably going insane, but hopefully can pick this up soon :)
