There's no need to derive a special case of the formula for E(X) for conditional probability. Since , if X is a conditional event, then the probability P(X) must be conditional probability.

Which just means on the table, you add another column and calculate the conditional probability for each outcome according to your restrictions, then do what you normally do, except with the conditional probabilities.

Just a quick clarification, when we get a question that says "Such and such is normally distributed" we can write and then that allows us to use etc.? Do we do the same with a binomial distribution? ? And how do we set it out? For example if they don't give or and we are asked to solve for those, do we still write ?

lol personally I've never ever written when doing probability. All I write is "Using normal cdf, pdf, inverse on TI-89" next to working. I do the same for binomial etc.

Right, cause I know the course back to front and now all it comes down to is not losing marks for incorrect setting out etc.

What about for binomial distributions, say there's 10 trials and you need to find , should you write or can I just write, Using BinomPDF on TI-89 with n=, p=, lower value=, upper value= ?
