Hi guys, what is the social purpose and function of this text?

Text 1
The Front Bar – Winter Edition, is an Australian sports talk show based in a studio with a live audience. The show is hosted by journalist Andy Maher (A), and comedians Mick Molloy (M) and Sam Pang (SP). They have guest sportspeople throughout the episodes. This episode aired on Feb 24th 2018 nearing the end of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang their guest in this episode is world champion Australian snowboarder Scotty James (SJ) after he won bronze for Australia in the men’s halfpipe.

I reckon the function is to entertain and the social purpose is to build rapport between the interlocutors.

I reckon the function is to entertain and the social purpose is to build rapport between the interlocutors.

Yeah, I reckon those two are definitely there.  ;D
With multi-person conversations like this one, it's also good to think about what each person is trying to do in the conversation. Each is trying to entertain, but is there other stuff going on? Is Andy trying to interview? Are the other hosts too? Are any of them trying to do something different? What about Scotty?
It's also worthwhile thinking about how they relate to the people watching at home (+ the studio audience). They're trying to build social rapport amongst themselves, but what are they doing with the people viewing the show?
