I made a mention of the Compund Chem advent infographics here last year, and I was inspired to do something similar this year- with interesting tidbits about chemistry (and of course sharing the Compound Chem calendar for this year too! :)) )


FACT ONE:
The eight 'noble' metals (Gold, Platinum, Osmium, Iridium, Silver, Palladium, Ruthenium, Rhodium) don't rust!

Wasp stings are alkaline; whereas bee stings are acidic!

FACT FIVE:
Hydrofluoric acid is quite corrosive- it will dissolve glass. Even though it is corrosive, hydrofluoric acid is considered to be a 'weak acid'.

Liquid air has a bluish tint!

FACT EIGHT:
Astatine is the rarest naturally-occurring element on Earth- only approx 28g can be found in the Earth's crust!

Bones, teeth, and pearl can dissolve in vinegar! (Vinegar contains acetic acid- which is a weak acid)

Heroin is still legal in some places. It's used as a pain killer and is actually a pretty good drug for it. It was actually really common in birth suite!

(Sorry this is so late- I had no power for 6 and a bit hours at time of posting and my laptop died before I got around to this <3 )
FACT FOURTEEN:
Most tablets are made using a hot tablet press. An exception to this is ibuprofen (nurofen), due to the API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) having a high vapour pressure! (Vapourises quickly)
