Just found out that some units that you will be doing may be affected by a pilot of new e-Learning software. I'm not sure how much this will affect those doing Science, as I don't know whether the pilot will continue for the unit that you have to complete in semester 2 - but I'd thought I'd give the heads up anyway.

The software is called Moodle, it is a free open-source course management system written in PHP (www.moodle.org). I've had a play around with it and I've found it to be much faster than MUSO (and more reliable)...and it supports LaTeX!! Also involved is the Faculty of Medicine and the VCP - but I do not know the extent of their participation.

Here is a list of units affected:

CSE5610 Intelligent software systems S1 2008
FIT1001 Computer systems S1 2008  - all FIT students
FIT1008-1015 Computer science S1 2008  - most, but not all, Science (Comp. Sci) students in S2
FIT2001 Systems analysis and design S1 2008
FIT2004 Algorithms and data structures S1 2008
FIT2022 Computer systems II S2 2008
FIT3022 Intelligent decision support systems S1 2008
FIT3031 Information and network security S1 2008
FIT3039-3040 Studio 1 and 2 S1 2008
FIT3082 Programming languages and paradigms S1 2008
FIT4009 Advanced topics in intelligent systems S1 2008

I am not sure whether you will use MUSO while this pilot is operating, but I would highly doubt it.
