As 2020 was winding to a close we held voting for the BLAA (bangali_lok Annual Award), which represents everything good about ATAR Notes. Selflessness, empathy and a willingness to help. A sense of genuine community, of trust, and of passion.
It is awarded to the member or members of the community judged - by the community - to best encapsulate those characteristics. To best encapsulate the ethos of ATAR Notes.
The award is named after long-time National Moderator,
heids (previously bangali_lok). Heidi has been an integral part of ATAR Notes for a long time. She has invested hundreds and hundreds of hours into building this community, and much of how ATAR Notes is now is directly attributable to her.
In 2018, the inaugural winner was me, now-administrator Bri MT (don't worry - I wasn't running the award process or making the announcement). In 2019 we had an exact tie between Laura_ and National Moderator PhoenixxFire. Today, we announce the 2020 results.
ATAR Notes is, of course, far more than the sum of its parts. This community is only the way it is because so many
countless members contribute, have an influence and reflect the qualities listed above. For that reason, any number of users would be worthy. And, indeed, voting reflected that. Members from Victoria to Queensland were voted for, and from before year 12 to postgraduate studies. Many votes were tallied and there are users who have come extremely close this year and previous years, but who haven't been named.
Thank you to everybody who contributed to the ATAR Notes community in 2020 and shown BLAA values.
2020 RESULTS
The 2020 recipient of the bengali_lok annual award is someone who has been previously recognised as a Member Of The Month (MOTM) and in the ATAR Note Awards. At the time of writing, this person has exactly 500 respect. They are a Victorian - but not a current VCE student - and have been previously recognised for their science help as well as being mentioned for being encouraging.
Huge congratulations to a very deserving recipient
