Based on the previous grade distribution 40/60 should be around a 35 study score. So that is two 7's and a 6 on the exam.

Is this based on rank 1 sacs?

nah it is based on sacs that correlate to a 35 ss as well. So that is roughly being in the top quarter of an average cohort.

what would 3 sixes get you?
about a 32-33 I would think

3 sixes would get you 32-34, not enough for a 35 though. For a 35 you have to get 2 sixes and one 7, however you'll have to be lucky. Or 2 sevens and one 6, for a good chance.
You would also have to consider SAC marks. SAC marks of around 78%, would give you a good chance at a 35.
This is based on the study scores I've received as well as the study score calculator from here: https://atarnotes.com/forum/index.php?topic=138592.0

My feeling would be for 40-45 you need probably at least one or two 9/9.5s.

Actually with amazing SACs you can have 7/7/8 for 40 (or around 8/8/7 for 45 [50/60]) because in English SACs are 50:50. Some people on the forums got an A but a 42. Someone even got a 40 with 38/60 on the exam! (Obviously there SACs scaled to 100% but still)

I think maybe 7/7/8 is around 38-42? It could be on the lower end if your sacs are average but with REALLY good SACs (100% after moderation)  it can get you even high than what I’ve said (people get 40+ with A on exam with good SACs).

For a 45 you will probably need at least one 9 but for lower 40s it is definitely possible with 7s and 8s. I agree on a lot with the above post by Coolgalbornin03Lo. Given English sacs are 50% they can really carry someone's study score.

just noting that the 50/60 is actually 8/8/9

With solid moderated SAC scores; 7,7,7 should be enough to get a 37.

What happens if say I performed badly in one essay but manage a 8-9 in my other 2 essays in conjunction with my essays which are all at the A/A+ range of my school (89-95%)?
