I did this question a few weeks ago and got also got tripped up

overestimating how simple the question really is.

So, before I go to answer the question specifically, I need to get some info straight.

Average Velocity is the change in speed on time.

Average Speed is

**distance**over time.

Below is the displacement on time graph for the question.

In question D, we are asked to find distance on time, to get the total distance travelled, we will have to add the positive displacement and negative displacement.

So..... 8 (from start to x=2) + 1 (from x=2 to x=3 (tp)) + 1 (from x=-3 to x=-4) ===== 8 +1 + 1= 10

So the distance travelled is 10.

The time is 4.

Average Speed = distance/time

Average Speed = 10 / 4 for

**5/2**I think where you went wrong is, you put in f(4)/4, this is average displacement not average speed.
