Title: log's VCE Journey
Post by: |log| on July 23, 2020, 05:52:59 pm
Hey all!
This is my VCE documentation post I guess! Really looking forward to the challenge of VCE over the next two years, as I will have to learn to study from scratch - for context, I've always been one of those "gifted" kids who doesn't study and cruises, gets decent results and moves on. Well hopefully that changes now!! Remote learning really showed me how I can actually use my time, and really gave me the kick up the bum I needed.
Subjects:
Currently doing General 1/2. SAC 1 98 and SAC 2 94
Just dropped Bio (Didn't do so bad but found it horribly boring.)
Next year,
English, Physics, Methods, Specialist, Further.
Sounds fun right?!  :o

I really have to start working on my English. Been getting B's and the occasional A for the last year or so and would really like to change that. I wouldn't say I'm horrible at English, but not great either honestly.
A big question I have is, should I start learning some methods now? Would that actually accelerate me, or would the knowledge be gone before it would be useful?
For context by the way, I go to a relatively disadvantaged school. I'm on top of our maths cohort by a fair bit, and have gotten A's in science for the last while. Biology was also an interesting introduction to VCE science.

Hopefully you can answer my questions and I look forward to whatever you have to say!
Logan

Hey,

Welcome to the forums :)

What is your class doing atm in year 10 maths? Some classes act more as a pre-methods class than others so you might already be learning methods prep things atm. Imo if you have the time and are clearly on top of everything else then looking at the study design and gaining some exposure to those topics now could be helpful; just make sure you focus on having a strong foundation before you try to build on top of that.

Hey Logan ;D
Wow three maths! Is there a reason why you're doing all three?

As for getting a headstart in methods, it's not necessary but don't feel inclined not to. Your knowledge would definitely still remain by next year, heck in two years. Methods is one of those subjects where the skills never really leave you (if learnt properly). For context, Year 10 maths for me was all about preparation for Methods 1/2. My school covered exponentials, logs, linear and quadratics. I still remember those topics and during 1/2 and 3/4, I never had to relearn those topics because my basic skills are already there. It's good to get those skills down pat, but don't feel that you'll be disadvantaged if you don't get a headstart.

Hi Bri,
Thanks! Currently I am actually in a bit of an unusual maths class, being general 1/2 for 5 periods a week, plus two that are supposed to be year 10, so unfortunately means I am missing out on a bit of the foundation methods that would have been taught.  I think we are planning to go over that at the end of the year though. Thanks for that advice however! I am thinking of working on some mathspace (similar to khan) methods questions and learning some of the concepts in my free time. My teacher also borrowed me a specialist 3/4 textbook to look through, which is something I'm doing.
Hey Logan ;D

Hi!
For me the three maths are purely out of interest, and I wanted to keep further to lessen the year 12 workload as I would finish it next year. Upon lengthy talks with my current general teacher (also teaches/taught methods and specialist) he thinks that the combination of methods, physics and specialist would probably be what I would enjoy most.
Thanks for the tips on methods! I will definitely try to sharpen my skills on those 4 topics, while extending my study into a bit of methods! As I understand it is important to grasp the concepts first before anything.
Cheers,
Logan

I thought I should also probably give a bit of context about myself, aspiration and career ideas too!
I'll be 16 tomorrow and have always been a science focused person, just for fun mostly but I think the ability to suck up knowledge to a great degree has always helped me. I am hoping to do really well in VCE as I'm a bit of a perfectionist  ;D
I have a huge passion for astronomy and actually take photos of the sky, and have even been recognized internationally for some of them in competitions - see here for some of my pictures: https://www.astrobin.com/users/Lognic04/ . I'm also a bit of a maker, into 3d printing, have built a few computers, and even a few telescopes from scratch.

For university I would love to study engineering, or maybe physics/astrophysics but those seem a bit abstract for me. I'm looking at mechanical engineering or aero, but aero seems a bit restrictive in terms of jobs in Australia from what I have seen. Mostly I would love to be able to make things for a job, and continue learning throughout my life. It would be awesome to work for some place like NASA or spacex, or the Australian space agency if that picks up  :D

I think that the subjects I have chosen for VCE cater most to my interests, and I really look forward to studying them for the next two years!

Those pictures are amazing 🤤, no surprise you've been recognised internationally! What camera do you use to take them and how long have you been taking photos for? I also have a bit of an interest in astronomy and space, so fun to learn about all the stuff out there. I look forward to your updates  8)

Edit: Your subjects look great as well and I can see you're doing all 3 maths +physics (damn). Are you planning to replace bio with anything or are you leaving your subjects as they are  :D ?

Hi!
Thanks for that man! I use a specialized astronomy camera, which uses a thermoelectric cooler to cool down the sensor to about -20c, to lower the noise created from heat. I've been taking photos for maybe 3 or 4 years now? A fun hobby for sure, and there is so much to know in the field!!
I'm dropping Bio to make room for other subjects as our school is changing to 5 periods a day meaning other subjects would have to be out of school(blegh!). Definitely will be challenging next year!
Cheers,
Logan

Today I did my first practice exam for maths I think...ever  :-[ and it turns out, I had no idea what was even going to be on it lol. At least now I know what to expect, and how much more I still have to complete of the work set!! But, once I am closer to completion I think it will be really helpful to revisit.

I am at some point going to ask for my english teacher who taught me to see if he could tutor me once a week, but unfortunately he took leave to go see the olympics(which obviously aren't going ahead  :-\ ) so I will have to ask when he gets back. I don't find english terribly boring, but the work set in class sort of sucks the fun out of it.

Otherwise, all is pretty well!

While I have this thread here with this lovely community, does anyone have any tips for someone who is a bit of an ape in terms of English on how to improve? Or at least, maybe some fun activities I can do in my spare time that will bring up my English? I know that that's going to be a real uphill battle for me, especially if I want a high atar! I definitely think I have the capacity to both improve and perfect my english skills over the next year and a half or so...I just need to know where to start!
Cheers!

Weekly update: 31/7/20
Hi all,
Thought I would write a quick update. With this being my first week back to complete home learning (school shut down! annoying!) I thought I would mess around with some possible study techniques I would pick up next year. I have been trying first, to map out everything I need to do, day to day, and WOW. What a difference it makes! The lumps of work set at the start of the week seem to dissolve away into a simple task list, and they really aren't much.

Next, the pomodoro technique, I used forest for this mostly to time my blocks of work. This worked amazingly well during the writing of a practice English essay, which I still managed to somehow procrastinate into a whole day affair. But what matters is, with the help of some classical music and proper study time management I was able to do it the day after it was set! Quite the feat for a procrastinator like me, and I was especially proud that I put in the effort for it considering it was quite a struggle, not being used to writing essays. But I think it will come with time!

Maths wise, all is well. I learnt the financial maths bit of the recursion sac (which includes the further textbook parts) within this week and it leaves me wondering is this really a whole core section of the exam? I don't want to seem too naive but I think I could attempt most if not all of the further exam questions. I also found it fun to learn about the real implications of sequences and recursion, and how important they are.

That's all from me for now!
Cheers,
Logan

Hey Logan,
Great that you've found something that works for you! I've tried the pomodoro technique in the past . . .but yeah that failed  :'(  lol, hopefully, it can help you to write your essays even quicker.
Regarding further maths, it's great that you're so confident in the subject. Finance has been my favourite part of further so far and I'm generally great at it except for those questions where it's worded in a way in which you don't know if you should round up or down (idk if that makes sense but you'll know for sure next year). Anyways good luck with your recursion SAC and have a great week.  :D

Hi,
Thanks for that! I know what you mean! I make so many rounding errors that I've started writing messages to myself in the bound reference, lol. Next after this sac we have statistics which is...ok? Not too sure how I feel about statistics. I did well last year in it though.
Anyways thanks and hopefully you have a great week also!

Hey Logan!

Welcome to the world of VCE journaling!!!! I hope you'll continue with it throughout the rest of your years in high school, unlike me, who doesn't update my journal consistently hahah. Geez, three maths, damn, you'll be sitting so many exams since all maths subjects have 2 exams each, good luck with that lmao.

Regarding methods, honestly, in yr 11 methods, most stuff, apart from probability, are just yr 10 advanced maths, but a teeny bit more challenging (idk if it's just me or not). If you're really good at yr 10 maths, go ahead with yr 11 methods, especially by doing textbook work.

I've got a few tips in English:

TEXT RESPONSE:
*Read and annotate the text as you go along. When it comes to annotation, I use yellow as important info about events or characters, or facts, and other colours for different themes explored in a text that I'm studying.
* It'd be good if you read the text for the second time just to consolidate your knowledge of the text.
* It's fine to sit on the fence, but don't do that in the middle of a paragraph, be clear with your idea in every paragraph. If you don't wholly agree or disagree with a prompt, do one or two paragraph/s on one of your sides, then the rest on the other side, which I normally do.
* Ik it's not an argument piece, but since you're providing your opinion/s about a prompt, argue. What I mean is: ask why you believe that way (using third person, not first person obv). How can you prove your points? Essentially: explain WHY and provide evidence.
* Try incorporating at least one quote per paragraph. This gives you an advantage as you are showing that you know the text well.

ARGUMENT ANALYSIS
* Be specific about your target audience, don't just simply say 'the audience' or 'the reader'. It's never a general audience. For example, if it's targeted to Australian readers, you say 'Australian public', 'Australians', 'Australian readers', something like that.
* Don't just identify the techniques and tell stories, i.e. what happens in the article, and think you're done. So many students do that, which isn't right. Do identify the techniques, then provide an example (it'd be good if you use quotes from the given article/s), and keep nailing the how's and why's when discussing the likelihood of the effect on the target audience. For example, when discussing the effect, you say something like: the writer builds up [target audience]'s agitation of [blah blah blah blah].

OVERALL - PRACTICE ESSAYS!!!!
* Very important, the more you practise, the better you get.
* When doing a couple of first practice essays, just use your notes, and make a very detailed plan, so you'll know what you're writing.
* Once you feel more comfortable with them, try doing them without your notes, and do them under timed conditions. It is hard to do it under timed conditions, so I reckon that you should give yourself around extra 30 min, then gradually decrease the time as you practise more.

I can't help you that much with comparative yet as I've just started that area. I hope those tips are helpful, and enjoy the rest of you high school life!!!!

From mi-xao-14 ^^

Hey Mi-xao,
Thanks so much for that! Means a lot to get your detailed help on English!! I'm sure those tips will be incredibly useful, especially considering I'm basically on my own going into remote learning for the third time! It's really hard to get actual advice from a teacher, when you aren't in the classroom  :'( . I appreciate that you've broken down the ideas for me to try with English! I'll have to also work on writing practice essays yup!

Re: maths, haha yep! Going to be uhh, fun during exams. I think I'm really good at picking up concepts which is of critical importance for spesh, so as crazy as it sounds I'm really looking forward to learning more advanced topics!
Cheers,
Logan

Hi Lexie,
Thanks for the offer and the warm welcome!!

On another note...
Being in lockdown for another six weeks, however necessary is undeniably annoying  :'( but it will save lives. I've had to do a Mathspace test for general maths and while I don't mind the content, the tests are so bad! The one we did was hardly related to what we learnt in the textbooks, gah! At least it wasn't our SAC thank goodness! I would let my teacher know but really what can you do, plus I don't want to be annoying as I've already emailed him about 3 times!

Logan

Update:
Umm...not much going on. Online is so boring, holey moley. It's as if the work you DONT want to do, becomes way more boring.

Also I dropped bio about a day or two before school closed...not sure if I'm supposed to continue it for now? Apparently they haven't made the change yet because the system can only be changed at school(???) but oh well. Electives feel way more useless too seeing they would normally just be a way to pass time. Furthermore, our science teacher yelled at us (virtually lol, let's just of the class hates him  :-[ ) for not following the school timetable at home, personally I would much rather do a subject a day.
And thats all for now. Lots of silly small stuff.
Cheers,
Logan

Thanks! Honestly, a career in space sounds pretty cool but in terms of jobs and practical skills it doesn't seem that useful unfortunately. The closest thing I can imagine is Aerospace eng, but even that seems a tad limiting in aus at least.

I'm sooo bored doing online work. I hate it so much tbh, I would much rather be in person learning. I did just get a 100% on my general sac though! That's pretty awesome at least.

My typical response to boredom in hs in general was to try seeking out extension work that kept me more engaged - idk if that's something your teachers would be open to & would work for you

Thinking about careers. I was given some pointers by people I know that work in IT - They said I might be interested in data science, or maybe even a double degree in CS/Engineering. It sounds pretty interesting to me honestly, but i definitely want to do something in engineering I think.
Thoughts anyone?

Engineerings a great field, I know that software engineers are in demand (but so are a bunch of other specialisations as well), and given that you love maths and physics it seems like a perfect fit. In a  lot of universities, they have the first year of the engineering degree for students to explore the various specialities in engineering, so that's a great option if you know you wanna do engineering but don't know what 'type'. If your interested about a particular speciality in engineering and wanna know about what they teach in a course check out the 'course handbook' for universities and see if the content they teach interests you (ofc you have plenty of time for that).

Howdy,
Literally nothing has happened in recent times   ;D (oh wow, wonder if there might be some catastrophic external factor contributing?) [I definitely haven't gone insane] just had a question regarding how spesh usually works, especially with very small classroom sizes? My teacher currently says that the classes usually are either split between schools, or we sit into a year 12 class. Anyone able to chip in if they attend a similarly small spesh class? Cheers

P.S - Sooooo looking forward to IRL class, but worried about the currently rising case numbers...

Hey log!
With regard to small classes, I got to a pretty small private school (80ish per year level), so I can hopefully give you a little bit of insight. While we have separate spesh classes (it's pretty popular at my school), there are a couple of subjects that have year 11/12 classes. For example, our German 1/2 and 3/4 classes sit in together. They learn mostly at the year 12 level however sometimes they have separate lessons (if that makes sense). I would assume that if you sit in with the year 12 class, you would learn concepts covered in year 11 spesh at a year 12 level and possible skim over some concepts not completely relevant to 3/4 (some schools do this). However, there may be times where one class is just doing work and another is learning, and of course, you get different assessments :)
I hope this helped!

Thinking recently: Aside from the 1 or maybe 2 practice exams set for a SAC, how on earth do you study for them without dipping into VCAA exams and the like?

Also thinking, apart from VCAA/NHT exams, what other good exam practices are there? I'm probably going to get myself an A+ notes exam book as well. Ps. good luck to all the year 12s!!!

Congrats to all year 12's!!
I have a question regarding the creative SAC which we, for some strange reason have to have a full draft of ready by the start of school  ::) . In terms of a creative response, me, being totally uncreative automatically goes to the idea that I should copy the text scene for scene but from another's perspective. Would this be a good idea? Or would it be too unchallenging? It really depends on what is written in the piece i think, rather than how similar it is. Cheers

Oh and, a bit about what i've been up to these holidays so this journal isn't totally lame  :P
Got my L's! Overall so far after about 6 hours of driving I'd say: It's easier than I thought it would be, yet at the same time more confusing. It's not hard, and I find it pretty fun tbh, not really stressful at all. I've gone on basically every type of road, mostly country highways so far. So that's exciting!
Another thing I've gotten really into this summer has been vinyl, which is sort of suprising to me as well lol, never really thought I cared that much about music but I think i really do! I've bought all used stuff that sounds pretty good, favorite albums being probably The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd, Disraeli Gears by Cream, and Abbey Road by The Beatles. Now something else to enjoy  ;D
Cheers

Ohh boy, big fat update time  ;D

So firstly I thought I'd say just in general how I'm feeling towards pRoPeR VCE, and that is pretty darn positive honestly. I really like the feeling of independence gained now, and being just in the swing of things has been great, I feel like I always have something to do and it's enjoyable.
Subject reviews (so far!)
Further maths
Ooh, year 12. Tbh it's pretty just idk, mixed so far. It seems pretty easy atm, but at the same time it's pretty boring. The teacher will write about one whiteboard worth of notes every two periods, and that's about it. Doesn't help we already went over most of data analysis last year, but honestly I find statistics rather interesting aaanyway, so its pretty ok? VERY yucky feelings about having a real SAC in a month, a bit nervous, a bit scared, but I know if I can get content done in a week or so, then I should be good to go for the SAC, and at the pace I'm going for this subject I'm confident I'll smash it  :D
Overall so far maybe 6/10?
English
Eeeeeeeeeeeh. So far "learning" argument analysis again, for what seems like the millionth time, and as usual I never really feel like what I'm learning is sticking to my brain. Something about the way English is taught at my school just doesn't quite click right for me, for some reason. The class is pretty childish too tbh, often talking over the teacher, but mostly ok? I also never really feel like I learn anything in English class. On the up side, at times it can be a welcome break from the notes > textbook >check infinite cycle.
Rating so far, 4.5/10
Physics
Pretty dang good so far! I quite enjoy the concepts we are going over currently (thermodynamics), and it's quite interesting to learn about things like latent heat etc. It really is like an advanced class on...things we experience daily? if that makes sense. The questions can be dry but also pretty interesting at the same time. However I have the nagging feeling what we are learning isn't the "real" stuff, as in it almost feels dumbed down. Conceptually I get it pretty well but my classmates are mostly struggling so who knows. Maybe I have a physics brain  :P
Rating: 7.5/10
Methods
I don't have too much to really say about methods? Thinking about it, it's like continuing what we did in year 9/10 standard maths. A bit wierd and absolutely not my thing. So damn dry! like jeez man, factorizing and simultaneous for the billionth time? Also had a mini practice test and kind of choked it. For some reason I don't feel like I'm taking this subject as seriously as I think I should, especially as a self proclaimed maths guy. Something about pages of algebraic manipulation makes me want to explode.
Rating: like 3.5/10
Specialist
wooohoo! Absolutely freakin love this subject. Easily my favourite. I don't find it intimidating, or anything like that. It's honestly super interesting to learn high level maths concepts or at least high level for me. Went over infinite converging series today and that's like the coolest thing. I also find the textbook work pretty interesting, having to put on my thinking cap so to speak.
Rating: 9/10

Overall thoughts on VCE again: I don't quite have the super motivation I had at the start of me posting this, but I feel like the motivation is coming back. The competitor in me can't see myself do worse than others...  :P
Also getting a bit of a weird feeling at night time, as if my time is getting sucked away at an alarming rate. Go to school, get home, half hour, study, eat, holy ^^^^ it's already 8pm! Who knows.
Hope someone enjoyed reading this  ;D
Cheers,
Logan

Short post:
First year 11 SAC for real (physics), got results back, and was pretty shocked to see 39 / 39 on the page. I almost feel like it was too easy, even though the average was around 60% mark. I don't know, doesn't seem like it was anything too special. Impostor syndrome talking maybe  :-\
Cheers

Short post again:
I feel like I messed up my English arg analysis pretty bad,(well, by my standards that is) even though I put a ton of effort in leading up. It's like I just...forgot what to do, my mind that wrote practice stuff just wasn't quite there, and I was super frustrated in the sac. Want to throw things in anger grr, also making many silly mistakes on further, as the SAC is rapidly approaching(oooh! mixed feelings!) Other than that it's been pretty good tbh, got 96 avgd on spesh SAC, was pretty easy I thought though, got 91 on methods practice sac which I'm quite happy with honestly, methods so far has been one of the most difficult. Since I only did general maths last year it's been a bit wierd adjusting to the different type of SAC structure just in general ie, at points there can be no clear direction for questions.
Anyway other than that feeling quite good, we'll see about English I suppose.

Last week of term one update!
Hey all! Firstly, holy hell that term went fast!
So, I got my English results back and...I TOPPED THE CLASS??!!!??!?!?!??! WTF???! So really couldn't be happier with that. It absolutely boggles me that that's even possible, but I'm not complaining. Got all very high on the rubrick but one section, which is my best English result to date. Honestly an amazing feeling.
Methods: Did SAC 1 last tuesday, already got results and got 87% tech free, 97 tech active, woohoo! Not to mention that was quite possibly the hardest test I've ever done, like literally crazy. So overall average 92 and #1 in the school  ;D
Further: Also just completed the gargantuan data analysis SAC, and honestly I was kind of nervous beforehand but now? I don't really have much to say. I didn't miss anything blatant as there were quite a few discussions after each lesson, pretty happy with myself considering I think I was the only one to remember to reseasonalise the data on one of the questions.
Spesh and physics are kinda just chilling atm, doing vectors and electricity. Nothing crazy  :)
Cheers,
Logan

Update:
Am I the only one who... kinda hates school holidays?
Man, these holidays have been hard. I finally made the choice to break off with friends who, were pretty toxic and quite bad influences and I'd be lying if I were to say it wasn't taking a toll on me having nothing to do and noone to talk to, but hopefully I'll be back at it at school socially and in a routine again. I'm pretty good socially with a fair few people so hopefully I can turn some of those over into friendships. Note: It also hit me that in the last two weeks, I went out twice apart from easter with family (Have been for walks etc but actually out, twice.) which kind of messed with my head. I haven't really done any school work either, just sorta chilling being useless and all. Something cool that happened was a girl gave me her number at the start of the holidays! That was a pretty big boost, but in the end it just didn't quite turn out but I'm still glad it happened  :) .
That's the end of my probably a bit too personal rant but I can't wait to be back at school in a mostly social capacity. Good luck everyone returning soon too! Cheers

Back to school update:
As the name would suggest, yep, back at school!
Ditched toxic friends and made new ones? Check :)
English class not as bad as I thought it would be? Check
Got further result...99% :) (That one mark though....)

Spoiler
Hey all! Ah crap, sorry I haven't really been active here :(
So, here's a bit of a brain dump:
Physics remains my least favorite subject tbh, with further coming in at second last. English remains interesting for the sake of being something different, and a bit of a creative output? Specialist and methods are pretty great because of the subject matter and tiny class sizes for each of them.
Physics is boring but at least I am doing well in it - got a 100 on my last matter SAC! :) I unfortunately just don't find it that interesting, to be honest many of the concepts I have heard of or looked into before and the subject curriculum seems to be "a mile wide and an inch deep", that is, a lot of content but it's all very surface level.
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with further maths tbh. On one hand it's chill, but on the other it bores me out of my mind in class. Regardless I have maintained the rank 1 position, with a 100% on the financial SAC!
English is going, pretty mediocre IMO. I'm not really enjoying my new teacher and I don't find myself really putting the amount of effort into the subject that I would like. I got a merit/B on the last sac which is kind of what I was expecting, but I have to say that I'm still somewhat disappointed in myself. I never really took the time to improve my essay writing skills, which is one of the main issues I had/still have and that shows. I really need to pick up my act with this subject IMO if I want a 40+.
Methods is going quite well! The subject is really picking up in terms of complexity and I love it, as it offers something to really sink my teeth into, and I'm very happy with getting a 100% on the last SAC!
Specialist is honestly almost the same subject as methods, but with a different class tbh. Very happy with my midyear exam result for this one, 100%  :o But yeah I also adore this subject, always manages to keep me interested.
So that was pretty much my term 2. A pretty bloody good one for me! Currently in midyear exams and will try keep you guys posted hah.
Cheers,
Logan

Hey Logan, congrats on those amazing scores! Are you human? Having done Phys 1/2 as a filler last year, I definitely know where you're coming from haha; definitely think the 'mile wide and an inch deep' idea applies to Methods as well honestly. But oh well, not to be complaining when you're just (repeatedly?#?$@$?!$^&*&) snagging full marks : )

Current music obsession: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_Ydoe4Q-Gg

Nice, I'm a fan of Radiohead too. I take it that you like In Rainbows best? Absolutely slaps. :D

Hey thanks! Yeah it's definitely a bit annoying but at least it gives you a bit of variety I suppose.

Oh awesome! I'm just starting to get into them but absolutely loving it so far. Yeah I've settled on In Rainbows being my favorite :)

Hey hey all!
Sorry for not really being active on this forum and my page. Life just gets in the way eh  :P
But I thought I would let you all know I'm starting further revision today! And I'll update this page with my exam scores however embarrassing they may be hah. Road to 50!

Did the 2020 VCAA exams, including both sections even though you are supposed to do one (matrices and geometry)
Exam 1: 98% (2 lost in data)
Exam 2: 91% (More evenly spread losses)

So currently looking at a raw 44. Good start I dare say...

Don't undervalue the importance of the break, it's absolutely an important part!
Sounds like you're in a pretty great position heading into the holidays :)

Update - 12/10/21
Less than three weeks till the further exam! Honestly pretty excited to get it over with.
I haven't been stressing out too badly over school if I'm being honest - I'm on a pretty good track for further.
At this point, I have done about 5 sets of VCAA practice exams, with the latest few averaging about one mark dropped per exam, so hopefully if I do in the range of 5-10 more exams, I can hope for a 50!! Very exciting!! One thing that surprised me was that the knowledge even from the start of the year came back fairly easily, and now the entire years content doesn't actually seem like it's that much. Another fun tidbit is that I got my results for the National Physics Olympiad, a High Distinction! Wow!
So yeah, very excited for things! Unfortunately though had a covid case at my school, and am a close contact ( :-[ ), awaiting test results today, and honestly if I can't attend the exam I would be pretty devastated. The GAT went pretty well for me I would say but it would be pretty disappointing to get a DES.
Cheers all and good luck with your studying!!
Logan

Olympiad update: offered a place at the physics summer school?!?! Apparently my test, where I didn't answer 2 entire sections, was in the top 30 in the COUNTRY across year 11/12????
Holy crap.
