Keeping fit in Year 12

As studious year 12s tend to be rather sedentary, how would you recommend keeping fit during the year? I don't have time to partake in organised sport and am not really into running. Any ideas?

Wake up at 6 in the morning and go to local gym/school gym.
Shouldn't be much of problem.

Otherwise, wake up at 6 in the morning and do 50-100 push-ups, get some dumbbells, ankle weights and some kettle bells and devise a work out plan. Some mornings do cardio, some do weights day, and ensure that you have plenty of rest in between, you don't want cramps, fatigue during sacs, so don't perform heavy intensity training on mornings with sacs.

A plan for the weekend would be go for a 20-25km cycle around town, or wherever there is a bike path. There are plenty around Melbourne.

You could walk to and from school. That's what i did some of the time.

Lost a heap of weight doing that. 1.8k each way.

You could try just walking for about 30 minutes, and if you ever gain interest, you can run for a few minutes, walk for a few, run, walk and so on. You actually burn calories after you workout too, that's your body repairing you so the run, walk exercise is great and generally takes less time :)

This year, my plan is to wake up at 5:15, walk the dog for 20-30 minutes, then go for an 10k bike ride across the beach bike path. That's every weekday. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Some good weight training with dumbbells! On Tuesday and Thursday an 8k jog across the beach.

Do you guys think it is a good idea to play sport at a club level in Year 12? Or would that take up too much time?

I made a thread about this a very long time ago! I believe most of the people said that they regret not doing club sport.

Yeah, sounds great :) but I guess the problem is you have to commit to classes at least once a week

Going to the first class is going to be the hardest IMO. I can just feel it being so embarrassing!

I don't have time to partake in organised sport

There's always time, it's just hard to keep the commitment throughout the year. You have to develop a good organization system.

Haha, good luck to all those planning to get up at 5 and 6am.

I had a plan to do that and well, let's just say the "snooze" and "dismiss" buttons got a better workout than me!
After 10.30-11pm nights I just couldn't do it!

But that's just me! Seriously, good luck guys. I'm back into running now and am regretting giving up my exercise last year so do your best to keep it up guys and girls!
