While I don't know what my atar is yet, I think I performed decently throughout the year.
During December I didn't do much studying as I went on a holiday. However I read the 2 of the shorter English texts on the plane/train while traveling.
When I got back, I first read the last English novel and then proceeded to getting ahead with my other subjects.
I only learnt the first terms worth of work for spesh and physics. And I think I just did the holdiay hw for Chem and English bc I wasn't as keen on those subjects.
So mostly, I just spent the holidays relaxing but of course I did study
I think it'll be good to have a break first since you'll have all year to study! :^)

It sure is difficult to read ahead during the holidays without the urgency factor. I remember bringing my maths textbook with me during my trip to Singapore a couple years ago :P

What you can do is first gather next year's study resources and set aside a short time everyday to study a bit. Studying consistently ensures much stronger learning and cultivates the discipline for you to do well. At first it will be difficult, but try to stick to it. It will get easier as time goes along when you've cultivated the habit.

It really does pay off when school starts; everyone will be in the holiday mood while you already have the momentum.

Definitely have some time off and enjoy your holidays. Rejuvenate yourself because you'll need to throw in everything you've got this coming year  ;D

For bio, just read the textbook during your free time these holidays to get an idea of relevant concepts and ideas. Don't worry if you don't understand things; just make a note of it to consolidate when you get to it at school.

Also be sure to read the AN blog page on bio if you're keen: http://atarnotes.com/how-i-got-a-50-in-biology/

Do as much work as you can during the holidays so that once school begins you're already far ahead and able to consolidate everything while everyone else is learning it. This will be a great advantage for you and your ATAR.

Its just hard finding motivation to study and getting rid of bad habits!...

I know the feeling!

But do you think you can just put aside 2 hrs in the morning (say, 9-11) where you could do say four pomodoros?  Or two 50-min sessions with 10 min breaks?  Write down one simple absolute commitment including time of day to start (and set something meaningful to complete during those times!) and have a big checklist where you can cross off each day as you go!  If you do just that, 100% consistently, 5 days a week, you'll be a thousand times ahead of most people - the people that 'mean to study' but leave it till the last day, and the (rarer) people that are currently smashing massive 8 hr days that'll fizzle into obscurity over Christmas.

If it's too hard start with an hour, or 30 mins, and build up 15 min each week.  Doing it absolutely consistently is the key, so small is fine better. And making it a rule will actually boost your motivation - it's doing nothing or too much that drains motivation.
