Hello everyone
I was just wondering about English language and wanted to get all of your insights...
What do you do in the subject? Is it more  interesting than mainstream English? Is it more difficult than mainstream English?
My school doesn't offer English Language but is distance education a safe option or should I just stick to normal "English"  :(.
Thanks Everyone

I may be wrong here, but I thought it was offered at 3&4 level - perhaps just no 1&2?

Hi!

I really enjoyed English Language, however I would say English Language is quite different to mainstream English. The assessments are slightly different with the three main assessments being short answer questions, essays and something called an analytical commentary which is similar to a language analysis, however more focus on the language selection of the author. Another major component of English Language is the 'metalanguage', which a list a key terms.

I would suggest looking through the VCE English Language study design to see if you are interesting in the topics that are covered! :D

I wouldn't stress about it heaps, but if you wanted to focus on anything, I'd have a look at the metalanguage required for Units 3&4. Having a look through past lecture slides could be a great start. :)
