What’s happened with my daughter’s Atar score?
« on: December 14, 2019, 04:12:35 pm »
Please help!!!We just discovered that the Atar score is 5 points lower than what we have seen on the release date. What should we do? Change of the preferences close already at 4pm. I don’t know which score we should trust.

The ATAR should not change. Where have you seen both figures? The ones you should trust are on VTAC, and in the mail on the official statement.
You can contact VTAC on +613 9926 1020 during business hours of you're not sure.

Hi,

I'm not fully sure what you mean when you say the score is five points lower.

Regardless - this is fine, as far as her preference order goes. This should always be made in order of most desired course to least desired course, and that doesn't change because of a potentially lower ATAR than what is advertised on those courses.

Let us know if you have further questions.

As above you should only be getting 1 atar that does not change.

However in terms of preferences I would not be too concerned as long as your child has her preferences within the order that she wants (not what she beleives she is most likely to get based on her atar). (Edit: beaten by brenden) Also hopefully there is a course there that covers both atars to make sure she gets a 1st round offer.

They are all coming from VTAC’s website. I still have both screen shots.

I have seen this happen to some people ... was there a stage where it said "your atar is updating"?

I called them at last minute before they closed today and I was told that the lower one is the correct one. They haven’t made any changes to that according to their record.
As we have submitted the change of references by 4pm, the preferences which are chosen are according to the higher mark.
I am going to call them first thing on Monday morning. My daughter has sent the evidence to them today. Hopefully they are able to give us a reasonable explanation for the error.
Thank you very much for all your support.
