hey guys! I hope you all went well in your exams.  :D I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect for these subjects and any heads up advice. And also ,how you studied for them and level of difficulty. I did year 12 Bio this year as a year 11 kid, whats the diff between the workload and stuff of these subjects?
Thanks so much!

Chemistry:

-Make sure you can do ANYTHING stoichiometry. This is so important for year 12.
-Make sure you understand ALL of redox. This is so important for year 12.

Otherwise, things are pretty fair game. Not much from unit 1 repeats in 3/4 (the whole unit is basically just an introduction to chemistry so you understand what things are). From unit 2, a lot of the water stuff isn't that great - however, understanding the idea of Lowry-Bronsted acids is a good thing to have. (mainly just how high [H+] implies strong acid) And the above two you MUST have under your belt.

Also make sure you can do sig figs and know your log/exponential laws from methods (the latter will pop up in unit 4 - so you have until after you do them in methods if you're struggling now).

Thank you that helped so much, I'll pay extra attention to these key things when going over the year 11 stuff and revise sig figs

Physics:

-Understand the concepts behind the formulae. This will get you through like 90% of the course.
-Most difficult sections of physics course is (arguably) motion (due to the variation in question types) and electric power (confusing concepts at first).
-learn how to answer the "explain"type questions (key points)
-cheat sheet -->plan/make it during the year (that way it'll be primed and ready to use during SWOTVAC period)

Never done bio but I have a feeling the workload is less, considering the amount of effort/time put into memorising/learning how to phrase questions to gain maximum marks in bio. Physics is mainly learning the concepts and then applying appropriate formulae/using calc to find the numerical answers.

From unit 1/2, most relevant stuff is probably the motion, so try understand the concepts and you'll have a solid foundation for the motion component year 12 physics (which is pretty much the same thing, just with circular motion + gravitational force stuff).

I think that should be about right... :)

Chem:
-redox
-stoich
-unit 1 irrelevant (the random history and stuff)
-sig figs (just get into a habit of doing it)
(EulerFan101 pretty much covered everything :P)

there's a bit of memory work required (like stuff you can't just work out using logic) but that's with all subjects so...:P

Thank you so much! I'll revise all of these :) and do extra qs for motion

How do you balance all these subjects?
For me, the theory takes time to sink in, so how should I do so whilst trying to maintain my other subjects?

It takes time for me too. I did year 12 bio this year, and the best way for me was to just keep revising. It doesnt have to be long. regular and short repetitions can help. I dont know about the way you learn haha but it did help me, like a theory I learnt last week friday, i would look over again the next friday and maybe do just one or 2 questions from the textbook or exam guide thingies :) try to experiment and see which style works for you. revising over key concepts reinforces your learning and if you didnt get something the first time, you can then next time perhaps
