Best Virtual Machine programs for university?

As the title says; I知 using a MacBook Pro for engineering so I値l probably need a VM. I知 not sure which ones are good, did some research but looking for anecdotal cases too.

I use Parallels Education Edition, it's reasonably priced and works a treat! ;D
