New uni students: how are you feeling?

Obviously a big transition from school. Aside from (hopefully) enjoying your well-deserved break, where's your head at atm? Nervous? Excited?

Also, I know we have the university journey journals (I definitely recommend making one, btw ;)), but make sure you make use of the general chat threads, too! From experience, the sense of community/cohort/whatever is one of the best things. :) I've linked a few of them below.

Went to reply to this then remembered I'm not a first year/new uni student anymore. I feel old.

Slightly modified question: compared to this time last year, how are you feeling? What sort of things were you concerned about last year? What's changed now with a year of uni under your belt?

On the whole, I think I'm feeling a lot better/less nervous!

Last year it was all the worrying about being in a new place where I didn't know people, doing a new thing, getting used to a new system and new style of learning, and before uni started I just had absolutely no idea what to expect.
Now after a year, I know how uni works, I feel more confident because I have a year of knowledge under my belt, I have friends, I know my way around campus, and I feel a bit less out of place. It's amazing what a sense of belonging can do for your confidence.

Apprehensive about the actual content (and increased expectations), because y'know, it's difficult, and I have to make sure I remember first year content too, but I'm also interested in all the new stuff I'm gonna learn, and I know deep down that I can deal with it and I have the reasoning skills, etc. that I need to do well. :)

I've looked into it a lot and yet I still feel like I am going in blind, and that's the nerve-wracking part.

To a degree it's one of those things where you won't know what it's like until you actually do it. The research you've done should help, though; I bet most people wouldn't have done that.

Is there anything you're most nervous about?

most nervous? That's not until next year when I'll be completing EDST2002 which requires 15 days of fieldwork as a teacher. (This is also the most exciting part too) So I have this mixed feeling - like the one where you are in line for an insane rollercoaster.

Hopefully, I'll come out of it more enthusiastic than ever :))

Sounds great! Do you know the general field in which you'll be teaching?

I’ll probably say it’s a mixture of both :P I’m both excited and nervous at the same time. I’m excited to start learning again (ignore the cheese) but I’m nervous about being able to stay on top of the workload.

A question to current/past uni students: how do you manage your time around work/other non-study commitments?
Life is weird and crazy as heck but what can you do?

I'm both really excited and nervous. Excited to start the classes and learning all this new stuff that I want to take into a career. But nervous about the classes/assignments, not knowing too many people from my school going to UNSW and just all of the changes from high school. :)

I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Excited in the sense I get to finally study film, make connections with people in the Australian film industry and basically having structure in my life again. Though I am nervous because I'm scared I won't be good enough. Other people already know how to use Adobe Premiere Pro or have super fancy cameras at home and I can't even do those fancy transition effects in iMovie. Expectations are alot higher seeing that it is a bachelor course, not the HSC. I'm hoping that I can make friends at uni :)
