To demonstrate what I was saying earlier:

One of my all-time favourite images, which still makes me choke up:

And the first three minutes of this video makes me cry every time I watch it (not so much the last minute lol).

The depth of character development in The Simpsons is absolutely unrivalled by similar shows.

There's just some emotional attachment to the characters that we can't simply say about other TV shows ): I love it

I think it's because we can relate so easily to the main characters.

Homer - tries hard, good heart, but not the smartest in the room.
Marge - hard-working, unappreciated.
Bart - not a bad kid but can easily be guided off the tracks.
Lisa - extremely intelligent, polite, feels trapped.
Grampa Simpson - lonely.

I never saw The Simpsons in the same light as other people. When I was a kid, my parents didn't let me watch it and then when I got older I would try watching it and just never found it that amazing. Sure, some episodes are pretty good, but I just don't think it's as iconic to me as other people.

Same! I wasn't allowed to watch it although every now and again my brother and I would shut the doors of the lounge room and hope we didn't get caught watching it. I missed the hype when i was younger and now its entertaining IF nothing else is on but otherwise its just another show on TV.

The Simpsons is literally the most relevant TV show to my life ever. Everything is always like..."Do you know that episode of the Simpsons where..."

I was in Zara the other day, and tried on the most sickly white dress that looked like what Mr Burns wears when he walks through the forest glowing like the plutonium rod and says "I come in Peace." And when I was describing the ugliness of the dress to someone, I was like, "yknow, like it looked like what Mr Burns wears in that episode.."

Edit: It was "I bring love"

It's bringing love - don't let it get away!

The PTA Disbands is the absolute best episode the show has ever produced.

Change my mind.
