how hard is it to jump straight into global 3/4? considering that glopol is one of the only humanities i'm genuinely interested in, but i'm generally not a humanities person, i don't really know how subjects like these are scored.

2021: specialist maths / math methods / english / chemistry

I picked up 3/4 global pol after dropping history (too content based for me)
It’s not very hard to pick up, politics is pretty straight forward and not too complex
One of my biggest tips for picking up a 3/4 subject is, as most kids will have background/past knowledge about the subject, they’ll just be chilling in class - make sure you work hard to catch up and not just relax because everyone else is !
Also work closely with your teacher to make sure that you’re on the right track, especially before the first sac
And always, do tonnes of practice questions

Hello!

I picked up GloPol very late this year (about two weeks into term) and it has ended up feeling like my second favourite subject! You can definitely pick it up late, and do reasonably well with a bit of hard work. The skills from 1/2 are transferable, but there isn't any pre-required knowledge necessary.

Although I don't have personal experience, a close friend of mine did global 3/4 in Year 11, never having done 1/2, and loved it. Her school doesn't offer the 1/2 at all, but still has a class doing 3/4 every year.

At my school, people were allowed to pick it up as a 3/4 without doing the 1/2. (In fact, our Year 10 humanities teacher arranged for a few of us to have the option of doing 3/4 global in year 11, without 1/2.)

I don't know what it's like to do it, but I know it can be done.

Best of luck with whatever you decide! ;D
