rankings based on scaled marks?

hi guys,

i'm a bit confused with how we are ranked within the cohort. are we ranked based on raw marks or scaled marks?

for example if a sac was out of 70 and scaled to 40, would someone who got 69/70 be higher ranked than someone with 68/70, even though their marks scaled out of 40 would be the same? (39/40)

thank you!

Just for reference we should be calling all sac marks that are assigned by teachers as raw they are just converted to fit the actual amount of marks that certain sac is worth.

I don't really have a direct answer for your question it will ultimately be up to your teacher to decide whether they would want students to be on the same mark or spread them out. The teacher would normally just convert the 69/70 to a 39.4/40 and the 68/70 to 38.9. Then at the end of the unit sum all the marks and spread out if necessary.
