how is allostasis supposed to relate back to the biopsychosocial framework?
in the grivas et al textbook it seems to only relate to the biological/physiological factors such as the activation of the sympathetic nervous system (the HPA axis), what are, if any, of the psychological or social factors of allostasis?

Check out the bottom paragraph on pg 45 of my summary notes. It describes a few different psychological and social factors :)

hi
this is just a concept map i made linking allostasis to the biopsychosocial framework

   The process of allostasis in a stressful situation: Our appraisal (PSYCHOLOGICAL) of a potential stressor (which can be BIO-PSYCHO-SOCIAL stressors) determines the potential activation of the allostatic systems (BIOLOGICAL). Our appraisal can be influenced by the environmental context (SOCIOCULTURAL), inbuilt pre-dispositions (BIOLOGICAL) and past memories (PSYCHOLOGICAL).
   If the allostatic system is activated, the brain will regulate the bodily processes involved and determine how quickly they will return to normal (BIOLOGICAL). The timing is influenced also by the context (SOCIAL) and our continued perception of the stressor as well as coping strategies to deal with it (PSYCHOLOGICAL).

i got it from the purple book .. but it's a little confusing :D
