Does anyone have time to actually proofread their essays in the 3 hr exam? Do you guys planning on to?

I'd recommend proof reading as you write - whether that be reading over a paragraph after you've written it, or reading over your essay when you've finished it, it's up to you. Just don't leave all of the proofreading till the end haha.

I personally proofread as I went, and tended to read over paragraphs quickly once I had written them. Helped me pick up any errors quickly and maybe add some things while the ideas were still fresh in my mind. Then, once you've finished everything, it's probably worth having another quick read over everything if you've got time to.

Keen to hear other people's thoughts on this. :)

Hey Class of 2017!
Hope all is going well for you, whether you're done with your exams or not.

For those still sitting exams, I remember that 3 years ago, I lost a lot of motivation* and stopped trying so hard after my 2nd exam (of 7) and that was right after the two Further Maths exams. Please don't do what I did and give up! If you can do better, go for it. The only one who is holding you back is yourself. You guys are so close to the end, it's in sight! No matter whether you're on your first or your last, you guys can conquer these exams. It'll be over before you know it - and then, the celebrations can truly begin! For now, keep your head down and keep working hard, but remember that you're human and you need rest too. You're almost there. All of us here on AN will be here to cheer you on - just keep going, full speed ahead! Good luck!

To those who have completed your exams, congratulations! The stress is over and your nerves can rest for a while. You've worked your butts off, so it's time to party! Of course, be careful and responsible as always, as well as respectful to your peers who haven't quite crossed the finish line yet. Don't forget to stay on the forums to help out other students and send in whatever resources you can; sharing is caring after all! You guys have earnt your break, but don't forget to contribute too! We're run for the students, by the students and the more help we can get, the merrier! (Even if you feel like you aren't 'relevant' any more, remember we have plenty of other boards too!)

I finished all my exams and honestly, I’m so fucking disappointed.

Before the exam period I said to myself, I wanted to finish VCE with no regrets but I’m here only with regrets.

I bombed my methods and spesh exam 1s off the face of the earth. I got in to the 20s for both, I’ll say that much...anymore and I’ll probably kill myself...

I had a relatively good SAC rank for 40+ in methods and 35+ in spesh in a competitive cohort. But now I won’t have a chance for 35+ in either because I had to turn in to a monkey in both of my exam 1s.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. I’m just so disappointed in myself.

your ATAR is not even that important; if you get into your course that's enough haha and if not theres pathway. dont ruin your mental health for it (source: exp) its not worth it.. im sure all will work out, venting defs helps, feel free to PM anytime :) but yeah, youll be fine, enjoy your summer break, get a job, see friends etc youll find a way to get to where you want/need to be :) i felt the exact same last year

Hey man, just want to say - you're totally allowed to be disappointed. But don't let it dominate you.

I'm also sure that you're probably being too hard on yourself - we all have a habit of demanding a lot of ourselves and judging ourselves quite harshly.
The night before ATARs were released last year, I fully convinced myself that I wasn't going to even get an 80, let alone a 90. I ended up getting in the 97s and even got a scholarship for uni haha.

In the end - your ATAR is not the be all and end all. It's a key to the front door. And it really ceases to matter as soon as you get a uni offer or start uni. Seriously, someone asked me what my ATAR was the other day and I had to go look it up.
Plus, there's absolutely no rush for what you do in the future - even if you weren't to get in straight away to your desired course, what's an extra year or two in the grand scheme of things? I've met people in my course who are on their second or third degree, people who have gone into one career then decided a few years down the track that they want to do something else, etc. - seriously, there's absolutely no rush. :)

Your marks are essentially determined by your performance in one exam on one day. They don't define the things you've achieved or learnt in your years of schooling.

It's easier said than done, but seriously - go enjoy your holidays, sleep in past midday, catch up with friends, do whatever you want to - and don't think about your results, because they're out of your hands now.

Echoing what HasibA and K888 have said here, I always offer the same piece of advice to students: "You can't change the past, but you can always change the future." It's super easy to be disappointed and - as a stress head myself - I can definitely say that a lot of what other people say kind of goes over your head, because you're busy scaring yourself with your thoughts of how badly you performed. However, I want you to ask yourself one question: "Is there anything I can do about it right now?"

The answer is simply "no". If you can't do anything about it, the next best thing is to take a little time off, do something else to clear your mind and just hope for the best. It sounds a bit heartless, but you can't change what has happened. You can only do better next time... and next time will be in the form of whatever course or path you choose to do next from here on out. You can choose to learn from an experience or you can stay here crying over spilt milk. It's up to you to decide your fate.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the advice.

I’ll probably rest now then see how I should approach uni, I need to alter my study habits/efficiency. I really invested too much time in to studying given the moderate/good SACs I got (should’ve been better).

Anyway, I went to sleep at 3am last night and woke up at 8:30am naturally. VCE has really fked me up hah..

Guys I don't know why I feel like i did really crap on all my exams. Like its daunting over me that my performance was really bad?? Is it just me worrying too much?

I think we all have a habit of reflecting negatively on how we did in exams, so you're not alone!
It's super easy to second guess yourself, to think about the answers that you should have written, etc. (and it's much harder to remember the things you did well) but that doesn't mean that you actually went badly. :)

I really recommend disconnecting from VCE, particularly between now and results release day. You've done all you can - now it's out of your hands, and you won't achieve anything by worrying yourself sick about how you went. Just take time to enjoy the holidays and enjoy not having any due dates looming up on you! Spend some more time with family and friends, watch all those TV shows you've put on your list on Netflix, take up a hobby, etc.

Just going to reiterate what I've said before - in the end, no matter the outcome, your results don't define you, and they mean very little in the grand scheme of things. That doesn't mean you can't be proud of yourself or disappointed or any other emotion - it means that you shouldn't let any number (or the thought of it) control you.

We're always here if you need :)

Congrats on finishing, everybody. :D

To track your progress etc. over the break and beyond, why not create a thread in the University Journey Journal section? :) It'll be interesting to look back in a couple of years to see how you were feeling through ATAR release, offers, the start of uni etc.
