Hello, I'm doing a 2013 math trial exam paper and a part of one of the questions is: Explain what is meant by normal distribution? i have learnt this before but i have forgotten. Thankyou in advance :)

Hey there!! Welcome to the forums!!  ;D

The normal distribution is a super common probability distribution, often called the bell curve. In such a distribution, the mean, mode, and median values are all equal! The shape of the curve is affected by the mean and the standard deviation of the results, but they all look very similar to the bell curve you will have seen around pretty much everywhere.

That is the basic principle, does that help?  ;D

According to the Jacaranda textbook:

A normal distribution is a statistical occurrence where a data set of scores is symmetrically distributed about the mean.
