Hey! I'm trying to create a potential timetable. I'm aware that some subjects have class streams - is there a way to know which subjects have these and which times correspond to which streams?
Thanks!
It is not always clear until class registration which subjects have streams. I know that maths subjects like calculus have streams. If you list your subjects people here may be able to give an indication as to whether or not they are streamed. If a subject is run in streams, it will follow a pattern that L01/01, L02/01 and L03/01 will all be the same stream.
In regards to tutorials and practicals, what MB_ has said is correct. Some subjects do run practicals and tutorials in the first week. If a tutorial is run in week one it is usually more of an information session, where you are told what to expect for the semester for the subject (what will happen in tutorials, assessment information, general introduction to university academia). Tutorials will also look at the content taught in lectures from the previous week, which ensures that everyone should be on the same page.
I believe that I had a biology practical in my first week, which was a really simple experiment on microscopes to become familiar with how practicals will run and how they will be assessed. Practicals also don't always align with the lecture content, sometimes there will be practicals that are standalone and are not related to lecture content, or they will be run at a time way after you have learnt about the theory. They try to make sure it is fair to everyone.
